A few questions for experienced SAT-ers! Share your wisdom please!

I only just discovered this site and regret finding it so late. I'm taking the Oct SAT, so i sould appreciate it very much if you'd help!

Up to how many questions is it OK to miss in the Critical Reading section in order to get an 800? Or the Writing section? I've noticed that the college board only provides broad score ranges for my scores.... for example, once I got two wrong and my score was 720~800. What score am I supposed to expect?

Another question... I read some sample essays you guys posted and they were great. I noticed that some of them contain intricate details, something that I find it hard to include in my essays. So my question is... how do you prepare for the essay, examples specifically? Do you simply use knowledge acquired in your everyday life, or do you actually go out and look for these examples, at least to some degree?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!!

1) missing one or two is usually an 800. When there is a super harsh curve, however, missing two will give you a 790.

2) just try to use everyday knowledge when you write your essay. No need to go looking for things to include. The hardest part is remembering the things you know while you're writing your essay. I used literary examples FROM BOOKS I ALREADY READ.

best of luck.

I think for the Writing section, if you get perfect MC, you can get as low as a 9 on the essay and still get an 800.
If you miss 1 on MC, you can get as low as an 11 on the essay.
If you miss more than 1 on MC, I don't think you can get an 800 on writing no matter what.

thanks... you're a lot of help, both of you
