Would be cheaper for me to get a college laptop here (I'm an international student from SEAsia) and then bring it over to college (with all the software installed and ready)? As compared to getting a laptop and all the necessary software etc when I land in the states.

Do you guys have any suggestions regarding laptop/ ultrabook models that I should be looking at? I'd want something lightweight and durable. I'm not a gamer so I don't need fancy graphics but I'd prefer something that can run multiple operations without freezing up haha.

Would really appreciate any help! Thanks so much :- )

Based on my vacation to China last year, I found that electronics were generally more expensive compared to the US (apple products especially…weird since it is made there). Although, it’d probably be more convenient to have it bought in SE Asia in your case especially if you want certain software in your language.

For battery life, macbooks will pretty much be the winners of that category. If you dont like macs, make sure to pay attention to the #cells of lithium-ion battery when comparing laptops for battery life. I’d advise you to also look at some consumer reviews of the laptop to see how the battery is too.
