A Few Waitlist Questions

Hey guys, I've been placed on the waitlists of Cornell, Harvard, and Rice. I just had a few questions that I hope someone will be able to answer for me.

Can you go on multiple waitlists?

If, on a small outside chance, a school offers you admission from the waitlist, are you required to accept it?

Generally when is the waitlist closed off and no more offers of admission are made?

Sorry for all the questions, my family and I aren't familiar with this process. I'm pretty disappointed, but at least the colleges considered my application...

Yes

No

When the school has filled a class-sometimes by June, sometimes not until August. That is a fair question to direct to each of the schools you are waitlisted at.

2a. Let’s say you get one offer from a WL and decide to accept it, turning down your previous school. Later, if a third school comes to you and offers you a spot, coming off their waitlist, you’re still able to take the 3rd offer, turning down offer 2.
