A funky question about submitting ACT vs. SAT scores.

So.

I scored a 30 (w/ a 10) on the ACT and a 2030 on the SAT. Here's the thing: I have a 740/760/530 CR/W/M score on my SAT and the ACT subset is similarly dichotomous.

My question is whether or not submitting only the ACT to schools is the thing to do, on the off chance that they only look at the composite, not the subscores. Or would it be a good idea to send both, so colleges could see that I have high scores in one discipline?

The other part of the question is that a lot of my schools say they require "SAT reasoning along with a few subject tests OR the ACT with writing" -- I don't have any subject tests; would sending both my ACT and SAT scores somehow invalidate me meeting the testing requirement?

Am I over-thinking? Should I send both, or just the ACT? Shucks.

EDIT: I should also say that I self reported both scores for the common app, if it matters.

... also, anyone have a list of schools that only look at a person's ACT composite? That might be what I need. Or is it in my best interest for the college to see all of my scores regardless? ...I'm just confusing myself, now.

If there was cleverer way to bump this thing, I’d do it. I guess this is, in fact, more clever and subtle than just saying bump, isn’t it? Well, now you should feel obligated to answer my question, being that I didn’t just outright say “bump”. The logic is irrefutable.

Your 30 is better when you only use m/v…and many schools only look at the composite…

I would send just that…

I took both, and submitted both. My ACT was better than my SAT but I just sent everything everywhere. If money is not an issue, then you might as well just send both. Your SAT math score doesn’t really help you though, so in the end it is up to you.

You are overthinking.

You can send one, you can send both. It really depends on how much money you feel like shelling out to the companies that make these exams.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I know this is a little belated, but if anyone else would care to chime in, I’d be curious to hear other opinions.

My first post was kind-of a mess of questions, so here’s the basic one:

Is my 30 ACT better/worse/equal to a 760/740/530 (W/CR/M) SAT? If one is better than the other, is it wise to send both?

May I ask what score you received in the ACT math?

If it is as bad as the SAT then I’d send both and let the colleges choose which one they consider better (they are there to help you, not hurt you, so if they feel you SAT is better, they will consider that in your admission).
