Thinkingoutloud, would you please direct me to a post where Curmudgeon has called you names? I have read a good many of his posts and haven't seen any such instance. We take name calling seriously. As we do false accusations. Please respond via e-mail or PM. You seem to have yours turned off, a matter about which I will discuss with Admin, or else I would have communicated privately, which is our preference in moderating.

For the record, I am not aware of any Mod editing any of Curmudgeon's posts. We do talk to each other. I also do note that there is a distinct difference between "Butthead" and "butthead." Finally, there is a difference between sarcasm and personal attacks. I may not be able to define it but, like pornography, I know it when I see it. If we were to make sarcasm against board policy, we would have to triple the Mod staff and we would lose a quarter of our posters within a month.

The board rules boil down mainly to two things: play nice and don't run with scissors.
Curmudgeon's part of post #81 boils down to: Hey you! Don't be dumb like I was.
As one Mod's opinion, I don't have a problem with it.

Wow! I was too busy dealing with the furnace going out and the pipes freezing to see all this as it happened.

But, for the record, kindness is the most important value i know, and I do not see anything in Curmudgeon's posts that is unkind, ever. If he's hard on anyone, it's himself.

Please don't stopping posting, C--the board would lose some of its wisdom (and most of its humor, which is often the best place to find truth.)

Cur- that is a great post. These boards are great preparation for the bs_ I face in the business/law world! The online world can be a tough place, too. If someone gets offended, all they have to do is walk away from the screen.

This thread is quickly deteriorating into hurt feelings and misunderstandings. Since it is no longer adding anything to the a discussion of college admissions, I am closing it.
