A junior, wondering if I'm on the "right track", or even anywhere near the highway :/

Ok so I'm currently a junior.

The only AP classes I've got so far are AP World history (5 on test) and AP US History.

I got a 790/800 on my BIO SAT II
Haven't taken SATs yet, but hoping at least a 2000+
Freshie GPA: 96 (honors not weighted)
Soph GPA: 91 (honors not weighted) (I know... i know T_T)

Competitive HS. One of the top high schools in NYC and the country

Took the national Latin exam, got a silver :/

All my classes this year are honors level, plus the AP US and the one college class I'm taking

I'm also working on a science research project, well, looking for a mentor at this point. I've got possible ones at Hunter college or Mt. Sinai Med school :/

Extra Currics: Literary magazine, Fencing team, no leadership positions except for slight involvement in student council. (yes, I'm aware how weak this is all sounding)

Community Service: Internship at a local community center, daycare place, camp, 200+ hours so far, piano since 3rd grade, I draw/paint in spare time and got a portfolio (don't know if this counts for jack), involvement in church (again, don't know if this counts for jack)

Extra Currics i'm joining this year: Sci Oly (maybe, i don't really know), School Newspaper (both my HS and Queens College), Amnesty International, still in literary mag, might have to quit Fencing bcs of science research

Volunteering I'm starting this year: I started Red Cross recently, Volunteering at an Ambulance Corps, and going to volunteer at Mt. Sinai hospital, volunteering at museum

Yeah, I probably look like crap right now, but is there anything I can do to salvage my chances and save my over optimistic dreams from dying a slow, tear streaked, excruciating death?

So what are my chances? Anything I can do to beef up my resume? Any leadership positions I can snag, or maybe any programs I should do?

My unrealistic goals are:
Sophie Davis (really, really, REALLY want....)
Cuny Honors
NYU
Stonybrook (ehhh)

My MEGA unrealistic goals:
John Hopkins
Carnegie Mellon
Boston College
SUNY binghamton

I doubt these places accept on the basis of "really really want". Ha. Ha.

i wouldnt say suny, bc, or carnegie are mega reaches... u might be underestimating yourself...

I don't even want to give the guy the please of responding, but I will do it anyway. You are simply trying to get people to praise you and something to the effect of you could get into Harvard. These are the most annoying threads.

bosoxnm3 (and anyone getting a similar impression: I'm sorry if I came off that way, but honestly, that was one of the last intentions from my mind. What I'm asking for is some realistic advice and some realistic feedback on whether I'm aiming too high or if I stand a chance. If I do stand a chance, I'm asking for anything I should be doing to beef up those chances.

I admit, I was overzealous when I wrote this up yesterday, but this thing is really important to me, so I panicked. If you actually took the time to read my stats, you'll see I'm just a little above average average to good student. Merely "good" students like me, when competing with the kids with 4.0+ averages and 6 leadership positions, naturally worry if they make the cut. Some people here intimidate me a little.

well, most ppl in this site brag about their smartness anyway. who cares, its not likke its gonna help them get to harvard
LOL

ba-bump-bump

What can I do to improve my chances? While there's still time?
