A kid with awesome ECs

Here's the downlow; either the OP is just trolling or he's the biggest piece of %$#^ ever.

troll imho. Even if this is true, then my "opinion" is that colleges will reject because they don't want to admit a sleepless zombie/automaton.

hey for everyone on this thread, could you please give me some advice: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/506523-please-chance-me-big-guys.html

i think you will find that I am more open to criticism :)

people like you dont really need to go to college. become a plumber or something. college is for people who think about more than themselves and are open to debate and criticism.

ok, you guys are all attacking me saying, I am not "open" to any criticism. If you ignorant mortals would take 2 seconds to read the messages, you will see that all the messages are verbal attacks not criticisms. I am just defending myself.

Cornell (ED) - extremely high reach
Emory - extremely high reach
UVA - extremely high reach
MIT - no
Penn - extremely high reach
Indiana - extremely high reach

I'll add two:
DeVry - reach
your local community college - sure!
McDonalds - match!

I'm pretty sure colleges don't like pathological liars.

this thread is amusing.

really? i find it depressing that someone can be so cocky when there is nothing to be cocky about :'(

Okay, here's your chances. 0% at all colleges.

none of you besides maybe 3 have anything over me, so **** plz

and to those who call me a liar, yes I lied on this thread where I will never get to see any of you, so I can get chances that does not apply to me at all, and waste my valuable time, wow you guys got me.

I fear for you that this looks a lot more like a laundry list than a structured passionate set of ECs, which it may well be, but I can't tell if this is consistent leadership or not. Also, so many officer positions, regardless of leadership skills looks a little suspicious. I don't mean to sound hypocritical, but you have too much and too little all at once, methinks. Don't take this the wrong way, it surely is impressive, but I don't think that these upper level schools are going to look at this and count up your ECs. They want to find out how truly dedicated and hardworking you are for each of these. The best way you can do this is through an interview, or at least a little portion in your essay.

I'd like more details involving this before posting, but with what you've given us, I can infer some.

Cornell (ED) - Match
Emory - Low Match
UVA - What, like safety?
MIT - High Reach (GPA, Test scores, lack of sci/eng ECs)
Penn - Low Reach/High Match
Indiana - Match

EDIT: This is an honest attempt at examining the information you have given. If you don't like my opinions, tough, but take it with grace. I do have an idea of what I am talking about.

Chance me please!

I.M. Ugly
I.M. Sexy
I.M. Better
I.M. the Boss
I.M. the Sh1t
I.M. Me
I.M. Hot
I.M. Pregnant

I.M. Woman
I.M. Adonis

Some nice nicknames for cc users. OP, don't take it as a personal attack. I am just having fun with your thread

haha this is an amusing thread...i agree with xSteven

If your personality shows in your essays... REJECT AT ALL

"If you ignorant mortals... "

Too much, you have lost your mind. My advice? Ditch some activities, get some sleep, stopping having such an attitude. It'll get you places. And please do tell us what college you actually do get into. It'll be interesting

LOL this is SOO funny.

I think this guy is just another person who thinks quantity > quality, that higher the # of clubs he is president of, the more likely he will get into college--hence the "I'm better than you, and I will get into better colleges than you" attitude. Your GPA is VERY low, but keep in mind that this kid is working 40 hours to support his family (if this is true) and socioeconomic status could help him with admissions. Your PSAT score is low as well and it would help a lot if you raise that. All in all, your scores are too low for Ivies and MIT and your only redeeming point are your ECs however they are a bit all over the place and you seem to think that just by being president of eight clubs, that's all you need to do.

Although I do understand why he's being so overly defensive, he probably doesn't like it that he's being attacked since he obviously does work very hard on 4 hours of sleep regardless of accuracy of posting. So I say:

Cornell (ED) - High Match...they're looking for a litle bit more passion than that.
Emory - Match
UVA - Match
MIT - High Reach...no way you'll get in with current GPA, SAT score, and non-science and wishywashy ECs.
Penn - Medium Reach
Indiana - Safety/Low Match

HOWEVER, if your arrogant attitude as the one you have here shows up ANYWHERE on your application, OR it looks to any of these schools like you think you "deserve" to get in or you're padding your resume and don't have passion, you will be rejected from all of them. So get over yourself; you really aren't that impressive. GPA is #1 and your GPA sucks. SAT is #2 and your SAT sucks as well. It's after they look at THAT stuff then they look at your ECs. and If you don't cut the GPA and SAT requirement, no matter how good your ECs are unless you've cured cancer or published a best selling novel, you will get rejected.

Furthermore, if you say you work so much and have so many ECs to attend to, why are you spending so much time arguing over pointless things on collegeconfidential? Shouldn't you be, i dont know, taking care of your clubs or working or doing HW or bringing up that GPA and SAT score??

i agree completely with computergeek173. from "laundry list" of EC's to "suspecious" officer positions.. just, nothing looks right
it all feels TOO much..

and uh, yeah, I'm going to not comment on the colleges =x

i'm out of school now, so I really don't have to care about my clubs until 3 weeks before my school starts. I can see why people are saying that I am being "arrogant," but look from my perspective; I sleep four hours a day, work 40 hours a week to help out my parents when the other kids are watching the football game or going to parties, and I spend what little free time I have with clubs, homework, research (getting it published), and volunteer activities.

If you want to disrepect me and doubt me, fine; but do not assume that I am being arrogant because I am getting "mad or ****ed." What arrogant 17 year old would work 40 hours a week to support his family?

Stop feeding the troll

yea ok. you work as much as an average adult does and still manage to go to school for another 40 hours. not only that, but ur president of like 10 clubs, which would take about another 20 hours. so u would have like 1 hour of sleep per day, which is impossible.
