My son didn’t get e-mail either. Is there something we should do?

I didn’t get that email either, but I did receive a likely in the mail.

The email is just a short email update. When batches are as massive as the one that was used on that email (20,000+ emails), some are apt to get lost or pegged as spam (some spam doesn’t even get into your spam/junk folder).

Dean J – thank you for all the help you have given me and everyone else on this site. We can only guess how very busy you must be. But I wanted to let you know how appreciative we all are. I think the parents are as anxious as the students and it is nice to have someone to talk to.

You were correct by the way, my son did receive an email response from the additional information he sent in. It was in his spam box. He has now fixed this issue so that it won’t go in his Spam anymore.

Good luck to everyone. UVA is such a great classy school. We can all only keep our fingers crossed.

When are you supposed to get the likely letter? I’m OOS (California) and the only thing I got was the e-mail so I’m assuming this means I’m mostly likely going to be rejected?

The absence of a likely letter in no way indicates a rejection as 90something% will not/do not get likelies so don’t lose hope! :)

An0nmity, Dean J posted a blog entry recently about Likely Letters:
[Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Likely Letters 2010](Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process: Likely Letters 2010)

Excerpts from the entry that you should provide you with some relief:
- The vast majority of applicants will not get a Likely Letter
- Do not read into the absence of a letter

So to clarify…the letter Tomorrow received via US mail (see post p. 1) is the “likely letter”? If so, yipee!!! Got it too.

No, I found this site exactly because my daughter’s friends all got this letter but she did not. Did you also get some kind of newsletter in the mail? Some of her friends said they did.

middleagedmom, you do realize this thread is over a year old? We’ve got less than 20 days, tell your daughter to tough it out :D
