Hi, ________

As the first of several phases in our application review ends this week, I thought it would be a good time to take a break from reading and write you. In talking with your peers over the past few weeks, it sounds like the final months of senior year are fast paced and filled with many memorable events. And I am sure you are excited and nervous, waiting for the letters that will soon be on their way from U.Va and the other schools where you've applied.

It has been a busy winter in Charlottesville, and you might have heard about the record snowfall at U.Va. Virginians are not used to this kind of winter weather, but our students are creative and always in search of a challenge. I even saw someone snowboarding on the Rotunda steps a few weeks ago! You might have seen that posted on Dean J's blog.

If you want to keep up with more than the weather here, I encourage you to read our student newspaper, The Cavalier Daily. Check out the top stories, athletic results, student editorials, concerts and speakers, and the cartoons that are often pretty funny. You can even read it online from the comforts of your home. It's the place to go to get your daily fix of life at U.Va.

I hope you know that we understand your feelings this time of year. By the time we release decisions on April 1st, we too will be excited and nervous; excited that we have made our decisions and nervous in hopes that those admitted will choose to come.

Thank you for your application to the University of Virginia, and I wish you the best as you finalize your college plans.

Sincerely,

Dean Roberts

Greg W. Roberts
Dean of Admission
University of Virginia

Maybe it means nothing, but I thought it was pretty nice for them to send out a letter like this.

Okay…nevermind, after reading it about 3 times, it doesn’t seem very important at all…

That doesn’t mean anything unfortunately. I got a likely letter in the mail today and it’s different. Keep up hope!

Haha okay… Thanks!

One more question … do internationals get likelies??

is this a " little sign of things to come" or is it sent to every applicant?

i got this same e-mail

Dear tomorrow:

The Committee on Admissions has reviewed your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusually strong; so are your achievements outside the classroom. In our experience…blah blah it goes on.

Please give serious consideration to the University of Virginia as the place where you might continue to grow and thrive. When Thomas Jefferson faounded the University in 1819, he envisioned an “academic village” where students…blah blah etc etc.

Blah blah blah about visitation and who to contact if you want to make an overnight stay.

THe Committee on Admission will make its final decisions by the end of March. In the meantime, we wish you every success as you complete your high school career.

Sincerely,
Greg W. Roberts
Dean of Admission

^ that’s the likely. now whats the email you guys for?

I go the same email. Did everyone receive this? Or is there anyone here who did NOT get this?

Or was it sent to a certain pool of applicants? (If so, I hope not the rejected pool.)

I got that email too, so it’s not for the rejected students. I’m pretty sure it was sent to everyone. My last post was the actual LETTER I received.

got same email everyone is talking about, the one that apparently doesn’t mean anything. oh well!

question. so the likelys, is that something that one would receive via mail (postal) or email?

I got the same letter that Tomorrow got via post. It seems like a likely, but I’m not sure. I haven’t gotten any email yet.

I got that e-mail as well.

The email was sent to everyone I think. Cause I got a likely letter today and the email, so it is def not a rejection! Good luck everyone

are you sure it was sent to everyone? I didn’t get one…maybe it’s because I’m OOS though…
Then again, I probably got denied, since according to my counselor it’s extremely difficult for OOS applicants to get into UVA

i’m OOS and I got it…

can you guys list brief stats and say if you got it or not? that way we can determine what it means, if anything at all.

Im OOS, didnt get it, with an uwgpa 4.0, wgpa 4.7, and a 34 ACT

I’m OOS, 31 ACT, wgpa 4.5

so now i’m confused as to why you didn’t get it but i did…
