A-level Credit Transfer to U of Minnesota

Hi there,

Do you guys have any idea on how many credits I could transfer from completing International A-level? I took Further Math, Math, Physics and Econs and was forecasted 4A*.

Pls answer if any of you has experience about International A-level credit transfer.

Thanks in advance.

IT will depend on each university and you will need to provide complete syllabus documentation.
However, typically, Maths/Further Maths would give you calculus I, II, III or the full year of Calculus for colleges where it is accelerated (or where a high level of math is expected); Physics would give you one semester of college physics, and Econ would give you one semester of college Economics. Some colleges may limit the number of credits you can get this way though. Check out each university’s website and if necessary email the International Admissions Officer.

Thanks a lot MYOS1634,

Im waiting for the reply from the admission officer too, but your answer will help alot as a reference :)

If you don’t get credit for one semester of micro econ and one semester of macro econ from the University of Minnesota, you can review the material the tests cover, take a practice test to make sure you know it, and then inexpensively take and pass the CLEP tests.

Search on “Credit by Exam” for departmental credit at the schools you are interested in. If, for example, a school you are interested in suggests you will receive one semester of physics credit (first semester physics, say) for your physics A level and you think you have covered a year’s worth, you may be able to prove this to the university by checking with the physics department and doing what is essentially taking the final for the second semester. This describes how it works at Ohio State:

(This is more likely at a large public school like Ohio State.)

Hey there,

Do you have a rough estimate of how much it would probably be worth ?
