A little early, but on the right track?

I want to know if I'm on the right track for making it into schools such as Cornell, and all those other good ones.

Junior: Rank 12 out of 516 (4.0 GPA - my rank is lower since I took Latin, putting me a year behind people already in languages from junior high).
SAT - N/A Yet
PSAT - 226 (junior)
SAT II in Molecular Biology - 800 - Taken in 9th Grade (planning on taking more)

Junior Schedule and Current Grades (hardest course load):
Honors Analysis - A/A+
Honors Physics - A/A+
AP World History - A/A
Honors English - A-/Borderline A-
Honors Latin III - A+/A+
Symphonic Orchestra - A/A

Approximation of Next Year's schedule:
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics 1,2
AP English
Symphonic Orchestra
(next ones unsure of - especially since I don't know if Latin IV will be offered)
Latin IV (if offered)
Either AP Biology, AP U.S. History, or Honors Philosophy (one of these if Honors Latin IV is offered, 2 if not)

Currently have straight A's (border line in English though for this term, not sure if I can pull it off)

EC's, Honors, Other Things:
-Marching Band - Section Leader

-Assorted clubs such as Fight for Your Right, International Newspaper, etc.
-Might form a club soon, but haven't had time yet
-University of Pennsylvania Summer Science Academy Program in Physics last summer

This list can change - Also, many hours after school each week for band/orchestra/other music groups (possible chance for band/orchestra senior officer positions, and national honor society)

Possible thought for a major (just a highly preliminary choice, as in the only thing I can think of so far): Biophysics or Physics with a Concentration in Biological Physics

So how am I doing?

Hmmm...I think you can answer that for yourself.

Nice work though.

Symphonic orchestra? Proffessional then?

Symphonic means advanced orchestra in my high school. However, we do play extremely difficult music, some of which even colleges would have trouble with. Being the only high school with the honor of playing at Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Festival (I think at least 200 of the best high schools in the state sent audition recordings in) makes us effectively the best high school orchestra in the state (or so my director says :P). We have had professional opportunities, such as principle players playing with the Del Val Philaharmonic, playing publically in many areas, having a piece written for us (we debuted it), and learning from several famous orchestras, such as Philadelphia and Baltimore Symphony. I'd say we're pretty professional.

"Might form a club soon, but haven't had time yet"

I am disturbed by the line above.

how the hell'd ya get an 800 in bio in the 9th grade --- is it me or isn't that like damn good

The SAT II in Molecular Biology wasn't that bad. I ended up preparing beginning in March and took it in June. I self studied a lot, and took several practice tests. For the most part it wasn't that bad, though I did guess on probably about twenty-five percent of the questions after narrowing them down to two or three answers. Thanks for the compliment.

Not sure why it was posted that someone was disturbed by the line about forming a club. I'm guessing it's either because:
1. I didn't word that correctly
2. It makes me look like I want to form a club for the sake of forming a club.

I can assure you that #2 is not the case.

Yah #2. We get sick of seeing people do things just for the sake of gettin it on their college resumes. That line looked very much like that.

I don't think your orhestra qualifies as proffessional unfortunately. However, it does seem like a quality one. WHat sort of pieces do your orchestra play?

I think you're on the right track. Keep it up.

Believe me, when an something happened at my school (don't feel like going into it), I had the urge to start a club right away. Unfortunately things like orchestra and my ridiculously hard English class prevented me from doing it. And I also hate people who decide to form clubs just for the sake of forming them. As a consequence, you get people forming the most ridiculous sounding clubs.

Oh, and I know my orchestra doesn't qualify as professional; I was just using that term loosely, rather than saying "really, really good and on par with professional orchestras."

Now that I've said that we play very hard pieces, I'm afraid that people will post "big deal! That's not hard at all!"

Oh well. I piece that we debuted was pretty hard mostly because if it's time signatures on drugs. You have your 12/8, 2/8, 3/8, 5/4, 7/4, 4/8, 9/8, 6/8, 7/8, 2/4, 3/4, 5/8, etc.

Right now we're doing several from Mussorsky's Pictures at an Exhibition (ranging from easy Promenade to hard Hut of Baba Yaga).

Pit Orchestra is pretty difficult, considering the difficult keys to play in (6 sharps, 5 flats, etc.).
