a NJ rising senior looking to be chanced...

I have posted this thread before, but I wasn't getting much response because the thread title was apparently too offending to some people, so I started a new thread...

My stats aren't that outstanding and I am becoming more and more anxious and nervous over the college process, so I would just like to get an idea of where I stand...

My high school is a really selective, but public high school that takes only the top students in the County. Classes are honors, no APs available.

I would just like an idea of the kinds of schools that I would be able to get into. The ones I had been looking at so far are:

University of Pennsylvania (Possibly ED)
Cornell University (I know an alumni interviewer at Cornell)
Lehigh University
Georgetown University
Villanova University (EA)
University of Chicago (EA)
New York University
Washington University in St. Louis
Boston College
University of Notre Dame
The College of New Jersey (in state)
Fairfield University
Marist College

i am most likely going to pursue a business major.

Any advice? Thanks!

plz chance me?

no responses ='(

o wait, an update....

State Finalist in the Louis Bay II Scholarship Competition

I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into most of the schools on your list

bump......

If I were you, I'd pick Chicago EA, because I wouldn't be surprised if you got in. You have a pretty significant advantage applying EA to Chicago, where as with ED to Penn, and I'm assumming Wharton since you want to do business, you're not only in a binding situation, but the upside really isn't that big, unless you're an athlete or have legacy. Also, you would need to be extremely lucky to get into UPenn anyways, bc. of your stats and lack of a decent EC. But, with Ivies, you never know, so you always have a shot.

well I can do both...

really? wow that's sweet i had no idea you could do that. Nevertheless, on chances, your lack of leadership will make penn a very high reach.

yea. in the "can more graduated seniors post results" thread, there was someone that applied ED to UPenn and EA to Chicago. I also e-mailed Penn and they said that they don't really care if you apply EA to other schools. I also posted a thread in the UChicago forum about this and they said that it is alright to apply ED to another school. So, I am trusting that it would be acceptable to do both.

bump de bump

I think you have a great chance, but I know most of those schools have 80-90% students in the top 10% of their class, which you are not. However, in a class of 30, that's perfectly understandable and your rank is fine, IMO, but I'm not sure how the colleges would see that.

yea, all of the colleges I have talked to have said that they look at it in the context of the school, so since these are 30 of the top students in my county, I don't think that they will look too negatively on my rank

don't put yourself down, your more than qualified, don't be nervous there are people with less stats than you getting in higher institutions of learning. just raise Sat to 2200

University of Pennsylvania (Possibly ED)- Reach no doubt with Wharton
Cornell University (I know an alumni interviewer at Cornell)-Low Match
Lehigh University-Match
Georgetown University-Low match
Villanova University (EA)-Match
University of Chicago (EA)-Match
New York University-Saftey
Washington University in St. Louis-Low Match
Boston College-Match
University of Notre Dame-Match
The College of New Jersey (in state)-Saftey
Fairfield University-Saftey
Marist College

thanks for the responses so far

im sure more of you have something to say...

bump 10 chars

bumppppppp

bump

just got back from Boys State (idk how this is relevant, just getting the 10 chars i guess)

your scores are low for Upenn, and especially wharton, so it will be a very high reach. Cornell will be tough too. With good essays, you have decent shots at the rest

yea, i already know that Wharton is going to be nearly impossible, but there's no harm in trying
