A- on GPA

My school weights an A- the same as an A and an A+. I recently, however, found out that colleges don't do the same. I have already recieved 3-4 A-'s as a freshman. How bad is this? Do all colleges weight an A- as a 3.7? I heard that colleges can't see whether you get an A, A-, or A+, but it shows up as simply an A on the transcript. My source is very reliable. Is this true? Could it be perhaps only my school does this? Or is it simpply false?

Talk to your guidance counselor about your transcript. The counselor can tell you, definitely, what the A- will look like on your transcript. Different colleges weigh grades differently. A- grades freshman year are not the end of the world! And your GPA is looked at in reference to the GPA of other students in your class. Finally a few colleges don’t even use your freshman grades in calculating GPA. Don’t waste your time worrying about this, but talk to your guidance counselor.
