A question for former GTs?

Is there a set date when we hear back? I sent my application and midterm report in two weeks ago. I've heard that some transfers hear in March; but that GTs won't hear back until mid- april!

I have all A's and one B at this point, but its just kind of stressful not registering for classes or housing or anything at my current school. I mean, knock on wood, but if something did happen to keep me from transferring...I would be SOL.

Is anyone else irrationally nervous about this? It seems like they should be able to send out our decisions sooner than regular applicants...

I am in the exact same position as you. I sent in all of my stuff (minus mid-term report since I haven't had midterms yet) and I had a 4.0 last semester. So I'm just assuming that at this point I'm transferring, but its making me nervous not signing up for housing next year and doing all the things everyone else at my current school is doing. I hope that if we have everything in early that we should be able to hear back earlier, since there's not much of an evaluation needed, just a check to make sure we've been upholding our GT grade requirements.

I think that come April 1st (if I can wait that long) I'll email my transfer adviser and ask him for a more specific timeline, and hopefully he'll be able to let me know a.) When specific I should be finding out, or b.) hint to me that I have nothing to worry about and everything will go smoothly

^ a trick i learned is calling your respective school up and telling them you need to know by X date or else you lose your housing deposit. amazing how quickly things get done

grantorture-- when did you end up finding out? I'd feel weird lying, lol. But seriously, it's kind of ridiculous that we're just hanging out on a limb until....May!?

It sounds like the whole GT thing is a complicated affair... I'm trying to learn more about it because it's definitely a possibility for me to get one after a deferral.

grantortue: Do you think it's worth it? (I know there's a thread about this but I was wondering about your personal opinion)

rd- I haven't been formally accepted yet. I just plan on lying because after applying since october 2007, I feel entitled to a speedy decision lol

and chandler- It's really hard to say, especially for my field. the school i'm at now is really strong in meteorology, and it's cheaper. I just hope I'm not making a mistake by transferring. But I think about the size, faculty, internships, and name Cornell carries and realize it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I'm willing to gamble with it. If you have any questions on it feel free to pm me. I know you haven't been given a decision yet, but I knew a crapload about the GT before I received it just because I knew there existed a strong possibility that I would end up with it.
