A question to those with experience transferring out of state.

I'm a student at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Soon, I will be moving to Sidney Ohio, so I tracked down another school for me to go to after the move - Wright State University. It's very similar to the school I go to (Public, 4 year institution, same basic requirements for admission, same price range, and has an ABET accredited engineering program; the only difference being that Wright State's engineering department is much bigger). Problem is, I'd hate to transfer and have to retake a ton of classes, especially calculus series, statics, physics, etc. I emailed the school about course equivalencies, and they advised using transfer.org, which they would have known wouldn't work for me if they had checked to see where Marshall is (WV apparently doesn't participate in u.select).

In your experience, is transferring like this usually a big problem? Or is it typical for the courses to end up transferring over to equivalent courses?

The school you are transferring to has the final say. Call and talk to them. Your email response was probably made without a lot of thought on their part regarding transfer.org and where you are currently in school. Explain the situation over the phone.
