A rather odd "chance me" thread...

So im already a college student. Im a Junior doing a math major at a Tier IV university (basically a 4-year community college, is that how they call it?).

Florida International University (FIU)

Its in Miami. Many people think bad of the university locally since theres UM around the corner.

I never did any "chance me" threads since I just decided to apply to FIU only, I got accepted and I called it a day. I thought that some of my weakest points would never let me get in another university. However, I was wondering if I had a chance of attending a more prestigious university than FIU?

SAT: 1310

800 math
510 cr

3.25 unweighted gpa and a 4.4 weighted gpa. I did the IB program and received my diploma.

Im an immigrant to this country, however, I been in the US for 7 years and I have seen people do better in the critical-reading section while being in the US for less time, so I guess I cant blame the fact I wasnt born here, i guess im just naturally bad in languages.

I had lots of Cs in my high school days and even two Ds in my senior year etc. I guess what kept my gpa from going sub-3 was that I always easily aced all my math and science classes while doing bad in other classes I wasn't interested in. I was always the lazy guy that didnt do anything in class but always well in tests. I never did homework etc. I always had this in the back of my mind which kept telling me that I didnt have a good enough work-ethic for other prestigious universities etc.

So right now in my university, everytime I tell people that I had a 800 in math, they freak out and question me what the hell im doing at FIU, saying I could have gone to a much better university.

This got me thinking, if I could indeed have gone to a better university given the obvious weaknesses of my stats, which led me to make this thread.

Thanks.

There's no point in regret! Make the best of where you are, don't worry about what you didn't do. The should'ves would'ves, and could'ves will just make you feel bad. College is what you make of it. You wouldn't know it from the people in this forum, but perfectly successful people have gone to those kind of colleges. If you really doubt yourself, maybe think about going onto graduate school. If you've done really well at college, no matter what kind of college, a National university could accept you into their grad program, and a whole new world will be open to you. But hindsight and being sorry you didn't do things never helps. Look to the future!
