I have applied to the University of Florida and they did ask for my weighted GPA as reported on my transcripts. Due to ridiculous grade inflations by my county, I have a 5.6 Weighted GPA (a 5.9 as of senior year midterms, they will only see that if I’m differed). Now obviously they do their own recalculations, so do you think that number means anything to them? Is it solely rank at that point?
It shouldn’t be a problem unless you have test scores that suggest grade inflation. Otherwise, they will just assume that is the grading scale/philosophy of your school.
You’ve already submtted transcript, correct? Then why are they asking for weighted GPA?
@paul2752 A few Florida schools (FSU, UF, etc) ask for something called an SSAR (Student Self-reported Academic Record) instead of a transcript. I had to manually put in my UW and W GPA’s as well as any grade in any class I had ever taken for high school credit, starting in eighth grade. They only want to see transcripts once admitted, and it’s simply to look for discrepancies.
So they do NOT ask for an official transcript initially? Interesting.
Did they ask you to submit the transcript as it is? Or did they ask you to translate it on your own using 3rd party? As long as you put the records with honesty, I don’t see any problem
The likely want your county GPA, so they can compare you to your peers (at the school and district levels).
The UF recalculated GPA would be used to compare you to the overall group of students. Bottom line, don’t worry about it. It’s just a bit of additional information. UF is well aware of your school districts grading policies.
Good Luck!
@Gator88NE thank you so much!
