I know this is off-topic and I apologize in advance for that and request that the moderator(s) allow me to post this. As one of the regulars from the Southeast, I've been lucky enough to live in an area that has somehow dodged the hurricanes that have hammered Florida and the other Gulf Coast states over the past two years. If I am not mistaken, one of our newer posters, Noccadad, lives in New Orleans...I had emailed him a few days ago to discuss Katrina and he had mentioned taking precautions but I have not heard from him since. Please, let's take a few moments and pray for his safety, that of his family, and the safety and welfare of all of those suffering from the onslaught of this vicious and horribly damaging storm. And let's all pray that Noccadad and his D show up safe and sound at her auditions!

Scott, thank you for bringing this up. Lots of us have gotten to know one another on this forum and I am sure it is on everyone's mind to be concerned of our CC friends and loved ones who were in the path of Katrina. I know this is a topic on the Parent Forum and Cafe as there are many Tulane families (some JUST dropped off their kids) as well as families who live in the affected areas. I hope we get word from Noccadad. I join you and everyone else in prayers for the safe being of all those in the area and the recovery process as well. Reading some of the accounts is gut wrenching. It is hard to fathom. We all need to thank our lucky stars for what we have and for our well being when we hear of what can happen. Thoughts to all in the affected areas.....

Thanks, Scott, for your thoughtful posting. I, too, have been concerned. I hope Lexismom or the people at Elon will let us know what you hear from them this week.

(We found out today that my great aunt and her daughter are still alive and okay in Gulfport, MS - didn't evacuate - quite a bit of property damage.)

Thank you Scott for starting this thread. I have been thinking of Noccadad and his family often in the past few days. I hope that they are well. It may be some time before we'll hear anything from him. One of my D's classmates is from New Orleans. His family was able to evacuate, but they do not know if they will have a home to return to. He has told my D that his parents expected that they would lose the house. I am keeping them in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for starting this thread; prayers and positive thoughts for Noccadad and his family. I can't help hoping they decided to load up the car last week with the whole family and just drive to Elon, rather than trying to ride out the storm. Waiting for updates from those going to the Elon auditions on Friday. It's been heart-wrenching to watch the news and see the devastation along the coast; Ericsmom, so glad your family's okay....my thoughts and prayers for all of those folks and their families affected.

I just wanted everyone to know that as of yesterday am, Noccadad & family are OK. He had called Elon to reschedule audition.

I called Elon and spoke to Kimberly to ask a few questions and mentioned my concern for Noccadad & family saying his d was to audition this Friday. She than told me that he had called and was she was aware of their situation.

Please continue with prayers for this family and others affected by Katrina.

I'm so relieved to hear that Noccadad et al. are safe. My heart, like everyone's here, is with the millions of people whose lives have been so horrifically uprooted.

I can't even imagine, after the safety and survival issues of these poor people are dealt with, what the simple "everyday, take for granted" situations will be. School records, immunizations, birth records, bank records, deeds, etc. What a nightmare! These families must have such strength to go on....let's pray and support them as best we can.
