a study problem

does anyone else have a problem with being too tired when you study? it's not that the material is boring. if i'm wide awake, it makes more sense. i'm trying to get a consistent sleeping schedule so that I can be more awake when i'm studying, but i'm always way too tired to study long enough. the longest i can go for without nodding off to sleep is maybe 30-45min. i don't want to take any caffeine, and i know college students are known to not get enough sleep. quite frankly, when i wasn't getting enough sleep, i felt more awake than 7-8 hours of sleep. but this isn't good for my health, and definitely won't be good in the long run. any methods to help keep me awake without caffeine?

The truth is you probably need to be sleeping more. You're not going to get any studying done when you're fighting droopy eyes. Just sleep as much as you need to, that way the time you spend studying is actually spent studying and not fighting off sleepiness.

When I am studying for a test that's like the next day or the day after that, I try to do it in 30 minute increments. So, I'll study for 30 minutes, then give myself a 10 minute break or so. Because It gets to the point that I just need a break! But I also don't cram. I try to look over my material every day so that I'm not cramming it into my brain the night before. So, YMMV.

ehh not getting sleep is just part of life. you just have to have the will to get through the day. naps don't work. i probably average about 5 hours of sleep a night and i am fine. just exercise and eat right and drink a few cups of coffee throughout the day.

"drink a few cups of coffee throughout the day"

Will power and coffee are the same?

I probably average around there too by choice and I'm fine. I don't nap or take any caffeine either. However, not everyone can handle it. Some people need more sleep. Period.

Right...that's so going to work. I'd like to stay up and study 24/7, but it would never work.

It can work to a certain extent. When you start getting tired, you can push through it if you want it bad enough. That's how I was able to stay up until 6 am two weeks ago doing Calc HW.
