A Suggestion to Chicago's Admissions Reps

In reaction to the disheartening news of the University of Chicago's delaying the notification date for Early Action results, I have a suggestion for the admissions reps:

Notify the first 100 responders to an admissions e-mail of the admissions committee's decision before next week.

I'll even write the email for you:

"Act fast - the first one thousand applicants who respond to this e-mail will be sent an early notification of their application results!!!"

See, Libby and/or Ted, the work is already done for you and such an act would serve to enhance the university's reputation for creativity. I promise you'd regret not doing this.

I have probably just sentenced thousands of my peers to hours of refreshing their e-mail accounts, but I'm sure you all agree this is the right thing to do.

*One stipulation: I get dibs on the first response, since it was my idea.

hahahaha!

maybe this is all just a joke... they're gonna come on in an hour and say "actually, decisions will be ready on the 12th! aren't we good?!"a

how uncommonly obnoxious!

haha. i like your idea though.

good idea
I will not be caught unawares.

hahahahahaahaha.

but... what if an email responder doesn't have a descision yet?

ok its 1 am where i live, and im going to bed. so they'd better not do this!

ahhh... 6 more nights of wondering.

Or seven. Or eight. Or five. Who knows what "early" means... :(

i think we should quantify 'early'. in fact i think we should quantiy all vague statements like 'i'll meet you in a bit'.

hence forth a bit is five minutes
a moment is 2 hours
a while is three days
and early is four days earlier

Therefore, decisions should come out four days before next week. :-)

We had to wait for snail mail. Some people didn't get their packages until almost Christmas; y'all are lucky.

tg they're doing e-mails; us abroad peeps would have to wait 4ever for regular mail!!
