A University Studies degree from TAMU at College Station?..

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for any advice.

I've recently been denied from Mays Business school for this fall, but my stats aren't terrible by far, I have a 3.8. I'm not really that devistated because my original plan was to get a B.S. in Econ and get a MBA in a few years. The only reason I even thought about Mays for an undergrad is because of the initial job prospects. Only that isn't a option anymore, so I can do two things at this point. In your own opinion what is better? A B.S. in Econ with a minor in Business and receive a certificate for Business Economics or a B.S. in Undergraduate Studies which I would have a Business Concentration(18 hours of coursework) and two areas of study in Econ and Human Resources(12-15 hours of coursework in each).

Plus, I would like to get into Real Estate, work as a manager in a bank or anytype of retail store or just start my own business after I graduate. Thanks again...

go with the BA

What all boards do you post on?

3.8 and didn’t get accepted… Are you an incoming freshman? If not, how many hours did you have and did you complete the pre-reqs?

I am a external transfer from MCC in Waco. I had about 40 hours and I made A’s in Principles of Acct 1 & 2, in both Econs and in Business Math 1. I made a B in Business Math 2. The only guess I have is because I didn’t have the MGMT 211 class. But can I get some advice about my post, thanks for your interest though.

They also require speech and English. Anyways, it was a bad choice on their part to deny a student with a 3.8 and I’ve never been fond of that university. You should of applied to UT Austin, you had a good chance at liberal arts and a decent shot at McCombs. As for your question, I would do economics with an MBA rather than undergraduate studies. I hope you know MBA is not so prestigious as many people may make it seem. It might help you get a job, but it really just repeats the concepts that you learn in your undergrad. When MBA first started, it was meant for those who were majoring in biology and so forth. They needed a little business background, so they went for their MBA. Also, if you want to do real estate or retail, I would go into another business major that deals with them. Entrepreneur or finance would perhaps be better for you. I would take some classes this fall, but transfer to UT Austin in the Spring to the liberal arts school. I don’t know why your set on TAMU. They denied you for business, they certainly don’t deserve a 3.8 student.

Thanks man. I just talked to a academic advisor inside Mays Business about their minor and he didn’t even know why I didn’t get in. The only thing he could thing of was because I took a year of music classes my 1st year at MCC that gave me a ton, or at least 33 hours, of credit on my transcript that really means nothing. You would think that they could see past all the hours and that I would only have 45 applicable towards a degree. Plus, I did get accepted into Econ at UT, I didn’t go because they require 4 semesters of spanish and a whole different math sequence I would have to start. Keep coming with your advice everyone, thanks…

I see. Well, you can skip out on the foreign language if you did 2 years in high school.

i post on this board, the law board, the ut board, the a&m board, the texas tech board, the college life board, the hs life(sometimes) board, those are the main boards i post on…

your applied as an internal transfer ?

if you really wanna do business go to another school

otherwise get the BA
