I’m planning on applying to Cal Poly SLO for Fall 2017 as a transfer student for Anthropology and Geography. I currently attend Cuesta College and am working on my AA-T degree over here for Anthropology and will finish the degree in Spring 2017. My question is if wether or not my degree will factor in and help me with my admission decision for Cal Poly? Not to say if it isn’t I will stop working on my degree, but just looking to see if it is, how would I go about showing that to the college?
@jwilli There is a lot that isn’t known (by us) as to how transfer admissions are selected, so some of us have picked up info here and there hoping to piece things together. Having an AA-T will be factored in (but we really don’t know how much).
Here is a document from Cabrillo CC (from 2015) regarding the Cal Poly Application. On page 12 they list the reading of your application, which is in two stages. The first reading includes GPA, CSU & Cal Poly required coursework, general education, and extracurricular and work experience. The 2nd reading will include if you are a vet, if you reside in the service area (based on high school graduation), if you’re a California CC junior transfer, if you are an SB-1440 (AA/AS-T) transfer, and your parents education. We know that points are given for the info listed in the 2nd reading (I don’t know how much the points are worth in each category for transfer students). You might be interested in looking through the document – it may help you when filling out your application.
I’m unsure what you mean by how you would go about showing that (AA-T?) to the college. The CSU transfer application has been modified and it has a section for AA-T information.
