Through a very lame series of events, I got busted at a frat party for underaged, and I was wondering if they'd contact your parents if you're under 18. I've heard the punishment for underaged possession and it doesn't sound so bad, as long as my parents don't know.

18 or 21????

Well after you're 18, they shouldn't need to call your parents since you're legally an adult. However, I'm only 17 right now, so I'm wondering what they're gonna do.

yes since you are 17 (under 18) they do call your parents...

i dont know about the punishment...

Spanking.

Hehe

normally you take a class for $35 either online or in person at gannett and then you have to like...write an essay. I doubt its different for someone under 18...but yeah, they'll probably call your parents.

and ps....you seriously got caught at a frat? it wasn't last night at fiji when the cops came, was it?

it was awful we wandered around for like 2.5 hours from 9:30 to midnight not getting into any single frat, eventually we get to AGR and they're having a party, we grab beers, literally like 2 minutes later the cop grabs me, less than half way into the first beer.

I have NEVER seen someone get caught at a frat party. wth?? You either have some really bad luck or they are starting to crack down. Maybe it was an unregistered party and that's why? If anyone gets in trouble for an illegal party its the frat...I've never heard of what happened to u happening to other people...that sux. At least you have an easy story to tell ur parents (that u hadn't even drank a snigle beer yet).

I was AGR for after hours that night... we talked about dairy cows.

But yeah that night was rough. The same thing happened to my friends at club fiji.

i was at fiji and i didn't get caught....i think if you are unlucky enough to be holding a beer close to the door when the cops come in you may get caught...gosh i dont' think i've ever seen anyone get in trouble at a frat, that really sucks.

This is really dumb now. I checked into Day Hall on Monday at 9:00 AM, they took down my netID and phone number, and said they'd email me when they get the police report. I still haven't got anything from them yet. They asked me to check in within two business days, but what was the point if they don't even finish the report in time?

was it cornell cops or real cops? that's very strange.

Um, I don't think you have to pay for the class -- Medical Amnesty students are required to go through the BASICS course as well, and I wasn't charged for it. I'm pretty sure it's a free course, and it really isn't too bad...

the police report takes 2-3 weeks.

Just came upon this. FYI, they don't call your parents-they can't because of privacy laws. However the $35 fee for the course is put on the bursar bill. (that's probably their way of letting parents know without telling them) If your parents see the bill, there's a $35 charge from Gannett Services - so they'll either think it's for antibiotics or ask.

Yeah this was resolved a while ago. They charge the $35 but you can pay it in cash if you want.
