<p>I had called the admissions office about this sometime back and they told me that being invited to Discovery weekend and applying for admissions are two different things. The two activities are managed out of two different offices.</p>
<p>I just called the admissions office again, just now, with the same question but this time asking if the student gets rejected from this event, what does it mean as far as admissions? The answer I got was that the college had to limit the number of seats to the event, they simply could not invite all 300 people to the college in one weekend; there would be no room! They also told me that applying to the college is judged independently from being invited to Discovery Weekend. </p>

<p>Absolutely, Achat! The overnight weekends tend to fill on a first come, first serve basis as do audition appointments, interviews, etc. Not so most selective college admissions where the apps are combed and the answers given on a set date. THough I still believe sending in the app early helps, it is not as essential as it is in any rolling admissions process.</p>
