thanx @GMTplus7 when I got 1700 it wad my first time
I will retake the SAT in October

Many colleges allow “super scoring”, meaning they will add together the highest subscores from different test dates.

Ok

UCLA is pretty expensive, even for American students. Almost all top schools are. Even average colleges are around 25-30K per year, with housing.

@newjerseygirl98 But Can I get into UCLA with my acadamics?
If you know any cheap college please tell me

UCLA would not admit you with those scores. Plus OOS and international students pay $55K per year at the UC’s. There is no financial aid for OOS or internationals. The $20K barely covers the supplemental fee that OOS have to pay of $23K.

Okay but I am retaking SAT…
Is my high school score good enough to get into UC? @“aunt bea” @newjerseygirl98

As an international, you are competing with the best students from your country. So far, those percentages do not appear to be above the 90’s. I’m no expert on your country’s scoring system but you have to be the best out of your countrymen.

That 1700 SAT may not change enough to get you to a level at 2250+. Right now, you are not competitive for the UC’s. No scholarships for international students at the UC’s or Cal States since they are publicly funded universities.

I’ve heard 80s are generally pretty good, but I don’t know enough of the grading system.

Regardless, you should really consider cost and scholarship opportunity. I’d imagine you wouldn’t want to graduate from a UC with $200000+ in debt.

What about CSU dominguez hills?

@Sid1234 see here: http://www4.csudh.edu/admissions/costs/financial-certification-and-costs

CSU will also be pricey since it is a California Public university supported by the California taxpayers. You will pay OOS tuition of ~$36K per year. No scholarships are available for international or OOS candidates. You won’t gain instate residency status during your 4 years here. It is a commuter campus.

@MITer94 How much credit unit per year do i need to graduate ?

@MITer94 see this link http://www4.csudh.edu/admissions/costs/financial-certification-and-costs
and tell me why they say non resident under grad tuition is $ 8928
and $372 per credit unit

@MITer94 This is Scholarship site http://www4.csudh.edu/financial-aid/scholarships/premier-scholarships/index
My GPA is 3.7 and SAT 1(M+CR) is 1170…So can I apply for presidential scholarship?

@Sid1234, you are cherry picking your numbers. Above that table is the first sentence:

The bottom line is that the taxpayers of California support California universities, so residents of California pay less. People who want to come to California and get the benefits of those universities are expected to pay more, b/c they have not contributed to the continuing costs of the universities.

You can of course apply for the scholarship- go for it! I think everybody is just trying to get you to be realistic. As an international student, you are not that far above the minimums to be eligible to apply ([here](http://www4.csudh.edu/admissions/first-time-freshmen/admission-requirements/index)), and you won’t be the only one who has worked out that it is the easiest CA uni to get into as an international!

The cost you’re quoting (9k) is per semester, not per year. A single course is three credit units. Usually it’s around 120 credit units to graduate.

1170 is low. Your GPA of 3.7 is OK but not with such low SAT scores.

Ask around to find out where your friends and classmates are finding good deals. Certain schools tend to draw lots of int’l students because they’re cheaper. The one you’re linking to is 34k, which is a lot. For one thing, even if you’re accepted, you have to prove to the US Embassy that your family can afford to fund you. They’re incredibly rigorous so even if they won’t give you the visa based on your own calculations – just on their own. Just getting in won’t cut it unless you get a full ride, which you won’t with your scores and the competition.

A few cheap schools I can think of offhand that are popular with int’l students for money reasons are U-Minnesota at Mankato and University of Nebraska-Kearney. Both are in the 25k range and you’re above their average SAT scores, so that’d help. Look around in the cheaper and more rural parts of the US, such as Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, North Dakota, etc. They have small populations of in-state students and out-of-state US students tend not to want to study there because they’re not “desirable” locations. You can also look at community colleges, do well, and transfer once you learn the ropes of studying in the US system. That’s what my nephew did and he’s doing well. He was pretty much like you; a strong student (in Kerala) but not scholarship level.

@collegemom3717 I know that I need to show financial certification of $33,300 but what amount of money do i have to pay for ONLY Tuition???
