sydsim- we get the same email…everything complete except Chicago audition…now we just have to wait. Our academic acceptances are coming in too- no artistic ones yet. Three academic acceptances for schools she will be auditioning for and two for BA programs. There were some nice academic merit scholarships from some of the schools. I feel like we can relax a bit and let the process play out knowing that there are options available if the artistic outcome isn’t what she would have hoped.

kategrizz, you might want to think twice about taking the full tuition scholarship school off the audition list, even if it is low on your daughter’s list. Here is why: If she goes forward with the audition and is artistically accepted at that school, and is fortunate to get accepted at some other programs higher on her list, that is a great finanical aid award to have in the arsenal if you need to appeal any of her financial aid awards from other programs. Some schools will not try to compete with a kid’s best financial aid package, but some will. There is no harm in trying to get the best deal possible. This is your family’s hard earned money and investment. Just as these kids are competing for spots in these programs, the programs are competing to put kids in their classrooms! It’s a business in many ways. The fact that it is close to home and is mom and dad’s alma mater works in your favor when appealing too. Also, as a parent, why take a full scholarship out of the running in November?

^I had the very same thought, CollegeSearchDad–glad you went ahead and said it! :)

Food for thought… food for thought! It is our last scheduled audition (I haven’t cancelled yet) - the hard part will be convincing D to go through with it - I feel like she will be so OVER auditions at that point. But I will talk to her about this - and consider it. I’ll leave it on the books for now, and we’ll see.
