Academic award letter

Yesterday S received a letter from Wright State with his academic award. He's received other academic acceptances but no letter re: money. Do you normally get this type of info before you are accepted into the BFA program?

My D got hers from IU and we haven’t even heard back on the prescreen. I think it depends on the school, and if the academic and talent awards are given in conjunction or separately.

Our experience last year was that every school handles this differently. Some offer you academic admission and scholarship with no concern for whether you get in the MT program or not (I.e. Penn State, Indiana, OCU Coastal, Rider among others). . At others - your admission is dependent on getting accepted to the MT program. (I.e. Michigan, Elon) re: scholarships, some schools allow you to receive both academic and talent awards. But others only allowed you to accept whichever award was highest. So unfortunately, you have to check with each school to understand how their awards are handed out. But congrats for the acceptance and scholarship. that’s a great way to start off your audition season!!

Thank you, this is good to know. I don’t want him getting excited thinking its a sign when I assumed it was procedural.

My D has a lovely scholarship already for Northern Illinois and was accepted academically right away in September, but the audition isn’t Feb. I think she can also receive a talent scholarship after the audition.
This is the only school we have information from yet though. They definitely are all different.

we’ve got some academic acceptances already as well; not any music yet though, which makes sense I think. (Her first audition is actually this weekend - hubby is with her, I’m not. Nerves!)

My D has also gotten some academic acceptances. She put the 1st one she received in her scrapbook!

Son has received a few academic acceptances and a scholarship to our in-state U. One of the acceptances was to a non-audition safety, so that is nice. With the others, it feels to me like he has one foot in and one foot out until he knows the audition results.

One foot in one foot out is exactly how it feels. Last year the first academic acceptance was exciting, then once it set in that she was waiting on the artistic acceptances she was happy just not as excited.

Many schools give out academic scholarships ahead of time. I think that sometimes made it harder. Having this great scholarship and not knowing if they were getting in

Procedural or not, BIG CONGRATS on the acceptance and scholarship!!

^Yes, good point, GSOMTMom, this is a big reason to celebrate! :D

Many schools last year sent out academic acceptances and academic awards way before my son’s scheduled audition(s). I think the idea is even if you do not get accepted into the MT BFA you might still love the school enough to go there for another major. Wishful thinking on the college’s part in many cases but sure did feel great to get some early acceptances and awards!

My D just got her first academic acceptance and a huge scholarship! I can’t believe it! We are so excited…

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR DAUGHTER AND YOU, BISOUU!!! What great news!!

Good for your D bisouu!!! Congrats!

Congrats bisouu!!

Yay Bisouu and D!!!

So… D just got a full tuition academic scholarship to the school that we decided a week or so ago to take of her audition list because it’s her last choice school. (It’s her Dad and my alma mater, it’s 15 minutes away, and we know too many not so happy BFA’s in their program). Wishing one of the other schools on her list would be that generous!! Hard to get excited about something I know she won’t take advantage of. :-/

Kategrizz - ughghgh. Congrats to her anyways.

Rider keeps sending DD emails stating that they have everything for her application except for her audition, and to please forward it to the school. Hahahahahaha! She has it scheduled already, but it seems as if they’re saying she won’t get a decision until its completed.

She has four academic acceptances so far, but only one is a BA, the other three are BFA audition schools that we still have to schedule.

All other apps are in and still working on those dreaded pre screens.
