Trying to figure out the dates when my son would be leaving and coming home... For flight reservation purposes, would one plan to fly out not before Dec. 20th, and return to campus by Jan. 18th? I see classes start on Jan. 19th but enrollment starts on the 15th, so does one need to be there in person to do it, or can enroll online? Thanks!

fraternity rush starts the week before classes in January so if he is at all considering rushing (about a third of the students join a house) he needs to be back for that...

we are trying to plan a family trip and also are lookig at the Dec 20 date - be warned the dorms will close at noonish that day - he is likely to be doe earlier but you will not know until you know his exact classes - there is a schedule of exams A-R or so...assigning each class meeting time an exam time, with particularly large classes having special exam times ...

Thanks, memphismom. What about other stuff like class registration -- should he be back a few days prior to class start, or can he do it online?

You don't need to be physically present for registration. Your son will register for courses during the pre-enrollment period (usually a month before the end of the semester). The only thing to do for registration is to ensure your tuition bill for the semester is paid for...if you're on financial aid, you've got nothing to worry about :-)

As long as your bill is paid (or loans are pending)....you've got nothing to do for registration.
