Uhg. So, it's near midnight here. I'm exhausted and have state Academic Decathlon tomorrow. I get on my computer to print of my resume and it's gone. For the life of me I can't remember what's suppose to go on it. I have extracurriculars and interests. Any other ideas?

Talents, hobbies, jobs, volunteer, clubs

That's about it. (and don't forget your name)

I'm curious how competitive Idaho is. My school finished 35th in LAUSD, but I bet we'd be Idaho state champs.

My school didn't do so well this year.

A school called Centenial got first, and one called Sand Point got second.

I'm not sure how well you'd do against Centenial. There are obssesive kids on that team. One kid had his mom read off the entire binder of info and tape it. Every night he listens to it before he goes to sleep.

The rest, yes, you'd win. We all suck. Honestly. I like next year's theme so much more than this...French Revolution. I do hate the book choice...A Tale of Two Cities. Kill me now...

Haha, I've already read it, so I'll review on sparknotes when the time comes around. I'm so excited about the science topic, Chemistry!! I just took it, plus I'm interested in it, and also, I could get a medal for it! I also like the overall theme of French Revolution alot more than the Latin American theme

I might have to take chem next year just due to the topic. I was planning on AP Bio.

Aw, you shouldn't let academic decathlon get in the way of you taking your favorite science. Just take AP Bio and do a little extra self-studying. You guys have review sessions, right?

We practice twice a week.

Interviews, Impromtue and Super Quiz. I guess we're kind of lame on that aspect. :)

What does your guy's practice schedule look like?

Hmm... well, we usually only have review sessions every one or two weeks or so, and only one subject in that time period. Somehow, we still manage to go on to states. I think it's due to intelligence and cramming, and a last minute all day study session during school. We did pretty well at states too, 9th. You guys?

I think we got fourth maybe...

It's not too competitive here.

We have some HUGE idiots on our team. I mean they really are stupid. I've seen some of the most dumbfounded looks from these students. We let the bi emo kid recruit all of his smoker/druggie friends. The rest of the season consisted of him and them making out and laying on top of each other at every practice.

As for qualifying for states, that's not hard, since there is no qualifying. There are two invatational competitions that we attend, then state.

O.o...Interesting group, haha. I'm hoping to counteract the constant problem of getting C starters with my slacker friends who are extremely smart.

Ya. One girl didn't know how to dress for the interview/speech aspect of state. She came in a short polyester like skirt and a black and white low cut shirt, so low you, if you had wanted, might have seen her belly button.

Then again this is the same C average student, in an average level non-honors math class, that thinks with her math skills alone she can get into MIT.

oh wow, haha. Very nice team, but that's what you get with C starters

For you guys who have Acadeca, do you go to a public or a private/magnet school? It seems like most winners come from magnet schools for some reason.

Public school for the win! We're a city school and we're right outside of Boston, not that rich, and overall as a school, not the brightest. But we still do very well

Public. I wish I could afford the local private, but not only do I not have the money, but I'm not Catholic.

I wouldn't want to go to the privates, I really don't like having my religion in school, plus I would have to take theology. Definitely not worth it.

^ Ya, that's why I haven't even bothered applying to this school with FA.

Do you know exact scores? Ours were probably about 30,000.

Kris Sankaran got 9461.4

No I don't.

This last competition I did so horrible I refuse to look at my interview/speech ballots, know my ranking, or know anyone else's. lol

I found out Centennial got ~44,000, Sand Point got ~43,000 and there were 2 or 3 other teams over 30k. That's more competitive than I thought. We would have been 5th I think.
