I was academically dismissed from QCC last week out of no where. They told me it was because my GPA was just under 2.0. when i was dismissed by QCC (via email by the way, not a call or a meeting or letter) i was informed that i was not allowed to go to ANY OTHER CUNY college. This email states i am to wait 6 months to do anything. But it seems like its contradicting itself. One minute i cannot do anything, the next i have to wait 6 months to be able to see if i can return to QCC.
My question is this, since i was academically dismissed, am i seriously banned from all other CUNY colleges? and if not, can i still fill out a transfer application to another CUNY before next weeks deadline, since i would be applying for the Fall 2012 semester, which is after the six month dead lock

I’d call up an academic advisor. Tell him or her that you fully intend to reapply when you are eligible for reconsideration, and you want to know when the earliest is that you can reapply.

In the meantime, I’d suggest you take on a job so that you can be earning money while you wait out the suspension period. You obviously need a break from school so that you’ll have a clear mind when you return. You need good grades if you wish to be eligible to transfer to a SUNY or elsewhere.

The thing is I left this school in 2009 to go to work. Apparently when I left they put me on academic probation and never informed me. They seem to only inform a studen about money matters but the rest is up to the student.
Now, I was able to apply to another CC and passed the math course thee that I originally failed in QCC. I quit my job to return to qcc and get a degree. This was all last year. I returned to qcc with no knowledge of being a probationary student. I had to leave this past semester for health reasons and they never received my withdrawal form and now I dismissed based on a 1.7 GPA. The problem I have is I was advised in October of 2011 and the advisor said despite my gpani could still sign up for this Spring. Now a week before school and I’m school less and job less.
I don’t think QCC is for me. To be honest they forget adults might have bills, children, work or other things that take up ones time. Yes I u deist and time management but to not inform me via email, meeting with a committee or letter stating I’m on probation is absurd.
Should I sign up for a transfer for fall 2012, while attempting a re admit to QCC or am I doomed to be stuck in this school?

I forgot to mention that I was placed on probation in 2009 when I left that school to go to work and attend LaGaurdia CC. LaGaurdia didn’t even mention my probationary status.

Like I said, take this up with an advisor. Also, I’ve been to several different schools now, and pretty much all of them don’t understand the concept of students working, taking care of children, and the like. I don’t think you’ll be able to avoid that just by transferring to another school. You’ll just have to plan around it. At least you know what you’re getting yourself back into, if you decide to return to QCC.
