Hey Guys,

I've been pretty much in a slump for the last 2 months. I'm in danger for being academically dismissed from Queens College due to my own poor habits, which was contributed by financial issues. I was just wondering what procedures follow after.

To give a little history to my background.. I graduated with an A.S. from Nassau Community College and basically transferred to Queens College fall '10. I expected to get full TAP and pay the rest by taking out a loan through school but due to my small department and the semester I was coming into- I wasn't able to be a full time student (I was only able to pick up 3 classes). Therefore, I wasn't able to receive TAP. I applied for a bigger loan but was only granted $700 so I picked up a second job. I did exceptionally well that semester.. 3.7 gpa. Spring '11, I was able to be a full time student so I figured all my corners financially would be covered. I quit my second job only to find out that TAP would not cover one of my classes, which I later found out should have been if I would have talked to an adviser to override it. I applied for an even larger loan and was only granted $700. I overworked myself that semester to make tuition... I failed two courses, dropped one course and got a C in another course. Over the summer I took a course to try and bring up my GPA. I did well, but not well enough. I received the probation notice before school started this Fall.

Currently- I am taking Gen Bio, Calc & a Geology course. I'm not doing well in any of them and I feel unmotivated at this point. I know I will probably get dismissed after this semester but I don't want to give up yet, and I need to keep moving. I know most peoples choice of action after dismissal from a CUNY is to go to one of the community colleges and receive their AA or AS. I already have an AS.. Can I still go to a community college to bring up my GPA? I was looking into LaGuardia CC for Spring of next year.

What would you do in this situation? What do you suggest I do?

Any sort of input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
