"Academic" honors...

Better to ask a stupid question than send a bad app off. I need clarification on what goes here. I'm under the impression that things like NHS and National Merit go here, but do math/music/foreign lang. competitions go here as well? Thanks.

Yes, I know. Harvard lol.

I assume you are using the common application, so here's how I interpreted it. For this common app question, list only academic things like NHS and National Merit that you mentioned (as well as awards relating to academic subject like math, writing, foreign language, etc).
For things like music or anything not directly tied to an academic subject, there is a place on the Harvard Supplement that says "Please list any non-academic distinctions or honors not already listed". So really, all your honors will fit into one of these two sections. If the award is kind of unclear as to whether its academic or not, then it probably doesn't matter which category you put it in. hope that cleared it up :)

Hmm, sounds good. Thanks a bunch!

My daughter used the Additional Info section of the common app for non-academic honors, and in the harvard supplement where they asked that qs, referred them back to the Additional Info.

I am sure either works fine, but using the common app additional info means you will have entered it in a place that works for your other colleges as well.
