<p>Hi, I'm a Bio Major that has been on academic probation for 3 quarters now. They made me sign a contract saying that I can be dropped out of UCI or request a change of major... I've been looking at the prerequisites and they all require a minimum 2.0 gpa, which I do not have. Are there any options for me?? I feel really desperate and I have no idea what to do, please help</p>

<p>What have you been struggling with the past three quarters? I’m a bio major too, and I personally think it’s pretty intense. But with hard work and possibly no social life, you might have been able to at least get above a 2.0. Are you that far from a 2.0? I’ve heard of someone who wasn’t kicked out even though they were on AP consecutively and had a GPA lower than a 2.0 because he petitioned or something to the dean explaining about how he was struggling with rushing for a frat.</p>
<p>Thanks for giving me some hope… I don’t know what happened, but 2 of my grades were unfairly deserved and I just emailed my professors asking about that. You can’t imagine how freaking hard I worked, especially for chemistry. I almost had no social life, but I wasn’t to the point where I was locked inside my room 24/7… or maybe if I was, perhaps I would have done better. At this point, I feel really hopeless. Even if I am able to stay in UCI, Bio is definitely not the major for me. I know I have the potential to do well in it, but I should not be at the point of zero social life just to pass my classes…</p>
<p>I’m close to a 2.0. Also, I’m retaking about 3 classes this summer. Does anyone know if they’ll let me count those towards my GPA, so I can raise it and possibly declare another major? Is it too late?</p>

<p>Hi there, I was also on AP for this past year. I came in during the summer of 09 and signed the contract with the school of bio sci (i didn’t declare a major at that point, just assigned myself to the school through unit assignment). anyways, a few weeks after that i had to come in and i told the school of bio sci i was switching majors to social sciences (bus. econ). my GPA is about a 2.4 so at least i have that down. but in order to declare bus econ i need math 2b done, which i dont as of now (had to take math 2a twice…err). however, i took a lot of random social sciences classes and i actually qualify to declare a different major (chicano studies) so i’m going to try to declare just to get out of the contract…perhaps you can do that?? i feel like im cheating the system somehow but like you, i’m desperate! </p>
<p>actually i just read you don’t have an overall 2.0 gpa, i’m not sure then…i know on the contract that it states you can’t use summer session grades…</p>
