Ok… so I’ve been concerned about this issue on academic renewal. Currently Im attending CSULB as a transfer student from IVC. Prior to transferring I had 2 D’s that hurt my gpa; along with those grades, i also received passing grades that are required prerequisites toward my bachelors degree.
If I appeal for academic renewal, what happens to my the classes i successfully passed in those semesters? Would this mean I would have to retake those courses again?
First Are you already in CSULB, taking classes or do you mean you have just been accepted and will start this fall?
Academic renewal is different for every college, but for the most part, generally it only applies to grades that fall below a C. So every class you have received a C or above can not be wiped off. This is the general consensus from counselors, If the classes you plan to wipe out of your GPA are not towards your major, then go for it;however, if you need them for your major or GE then just retake it.
