Okay, so I'm right now a junior in high school, and am planning on taking the SAT once or twice this year to improve my writing component. The reason I'm not worried about improving CR or math is because I already got 800s on those.

The problem is this: I got my 800 CR in 8th grade (and the Midwest Academic Talent Search was somehow involved, incidentally) and my 800 Math in 9th grade. Would colleges still accept these scores?

I ask this because I don't think I will necessarily be able to get an 800 again in those sections, if only because of careless errors. Like, with my 800 CR I got 780 Math and with the 800 Math I got 760 CR, and I've not consistently been able to manage 800s in practice (though I usually get 750+).

Apologies for any pomposity I may be exhibiting.

You'll be fine. Just take the new SAT.

To be perfectly honest, it's less of a worry about not being able to get the scores I want, and more of a fervent desire to take the SAT as few times as possible (both because I don't care to pay for more tests, and because I hate sitting there for four hours).

Also, to note, the 8th grade test was the first year of the new SAT.

I did Midwest Academic Talent Search too! I had 2 800s in 7th and 8th grades, and annoyingly these were automatically removed from my online account once I entered high school. I think Collegeboard "erases" your middle school scores, so I'm guessing your 800 CR is gone, but the 800 M is probably OK (if it shows up on your Collegeboard account, you're in business).

For future reference, if you score very well the collegeboard will keep your scores of before 9th grade if you request it before they delete the scores.
