Acceptance Rate of Transfers in NYU?

I wasn't the top 10% in my high school (but also not the bottom 50% either)
I was basically all around average so I decided to enroll in my local university...

I came to realize that I made a huge mistake when 88% of my class got academic probation (Yeah, I know, it's pathetic). I wasn't one of them...

So I went ahead and made the decision to transfer to my dream school, NYU.
It's a single train ride from my apartment and their Recorded Music program really sparks my interest because I'm a Music major minoring in English.

According to their website, about 350-400 people apply for this program and an average of 48 students get accepted, which is like... a 7-9% acceptance rate... which is ridiculous...

So here are my questions: (answer in your opinion and understanding)
1) What is more weighted: high school grades or college GPA?
2) Would an excellent essay raise my chances of acceptance?
3) Would an excellent portfolio raise my chances of acceptance?
4) Would where I am currently enrolled lower my chances of acceptance?
5) My SAT was 2150... Would that be of any help at this point?
6) Do admissions officers look for more than the high GPA's and SAT's?
7) And let's say there are no open spots left, does that mean my transfer application goes straight into the bin?

NOTE: Don't a jerk and point out grammatical mistakes on this post... I'm posting this using my phone...
