Acceptance/Rejection letters for 2009

We have not heard ANYTHING from Elon and we live in NC.

I was accepted academically and found out through email mid-February. I'm still waiting on musical theatre, though—I got an email this morning telling me that they had difficulty viewing my audition DVD but they let me resend it, thankfully.

So, yeah, definitely still waiting over here, too!

Sorry. I should clarify-my daughter has been accepted academically as well. We just haven't heard anything from the musical theatre dept. Wow, you are in Singapore?! Good luck to you!

Congratulations to your daughter! Looks like we're both at the halfway point, then.

Ahahaha, thank you! Being so far away made auditions a little more stressful because I couldn't fly over to do them live, but now it's just the waiting... I'm not sure whether to expect a phone call or email, since timezones are something to take into consideration.

I could be wrong but I believe that all acceptances are done by a phone call. I am not sure about International though. Good luck to everyone :)

I have heard from a few kids that called that all of the calls have been made. I have NOT called myself, so this is second hand info. Some of those kids that were called were told they are on the waitlist. So...sounds like they called for acceptances AND waitlist.

Can someone who received a positive phone call, and someone who received a rejection, look at the On Track for your son or daughter and let me know what it says for their major? My D got accepted early to the school academically, but has not heard directly about the MT program. The ON Track academic program says 'Undeclared Music Theatre.' I am guessing this is just because that is HER choice, but was wondering if by some chance it meant she got in to the MT program.

Hi Mom4X,

On Saturday my status changed from "In Comittee" to "Admitted" and under my major it said "Undeclared Music Theatre." I was very confused if I was in the program or not-- it wasn't until I got a phone call from Cathy that I knew I'd been accepted for MT.

Hope that helps!

Got the rejection letter from Elon today. It is just good to finally know!

i still haven't heard anything! everyone i have talked to who auditioned has either been called & accepted or received a rejection letter. 2Bornot2B67, are you positive that phone calls were made telling people they are waitlisted?

We haven't heard anything from MT department yet either. My D was at their fist audition and deferred. She was academically waitlisted last week and didn't get phone call so I assume she was rejected from MT...but nothing from MT yet. I can't understand why notifications of rejections would take so long.

I was academically accepted Early Action in the winter and I auditioned in mid-February. I have yet to recieve a letter or phone call.
My question is this:
Has anyone who applied Early Action and was accepted academically in the winter recieved a letter of rejection?
Perhaps it is taking longer for me/those in the same boat because they are sending out an 'Explore Other Majors' packet (Penn State style). My OnTrack status says "Undeclared Musical Theatre." It's just a theory for why I haven't recieved anything.

knarfydna - my d in exactly the same boat as you.

Can anyone confirm if that is what's happening? I leave Monday morning for a week-long mission trip in Mexico and was hoping to hear something before then!

knarydna...My d was academically accepted ea and then rejected from MT. However, she auditioned in one of the first few dates in November if that matters.

I believe all those who received an acceptance for MT have been called.

Perhaps the snail mail decisions have yet to arrive, however.

Since you were accepted academically into Elon, it makes sense that you are receiving other packets of materials since they hope you will still come to Elon.

I don't see it as rejections taking longer than acceptances. The snail mail acceptances also may not have arrived. Simply, as a courtesy, they phone those accepted prior to their sending out the official acceptances. For example, when my D was accepted to Syracuse, she got a phone call before the actual admissions packet/decision came via mail. Elon may be mailing ALL decisions together but simply called those accepted first. Therefore, the rejections and acceptances, via snail mail, may all arrive at one time.

soozievt-
I was trying to offer that speculation as to why some people recieved their rejection letters early in the week and some still haven't. I realize that a rejection is probably on the way, but was thinking maybe it is taking longer for my rejection letter to come because I was academically admitted EA.
So my question still remains: Has anyone who was accepted EA in December recieved their rejection letter yet? If yes, then I guess my mail is just incredibly slow.
Maybe someone who went through the process with Elon in past years might have some insights...? For those who were accepted prior to their audition, did the rejection letter come with an 'Explore other Majors' packet? Did it come later than those rejection letters sent to those who were not accepted EA?
Hopefully this post will clarify what I tried to ask with my first one.

I was accepted EA and I got my rejection letter last week

Thanks for responding, I guess my mail is just painfully slow. Did it come with a packet encouraging you to look at other majors?

knaryda-Because Elon has a separate admissions process, once you are accepted academically you can choose another major. They do have a BA Theatre that does not require an audition but is quite different than their BFA. My d was considering that option if another better one did not come along. I believe some people receive a MT rejection with a Technical Theatre studies option offered to them (which does require an interview or some type of review). If you are still thinking of Elon I would be happy to share with you whatever I know or have been told.
