Acceptance rejection

Hey guys i got into mechE and was wondering until when we have to accept or decline admissions. If i accept it today, do I have to withdraw applications from other colleges today or soon? Im confused as to what this 150$ deposit is. does it mean Im 100% comming to illinois and that Im withdrawing my apps to other schools? Thanks

Yes, if I understood your question correctly. An enrollment deposit means you are definitely going. Please check with your guidance counselor for a more sure and reliable response, however.

so if I do pay this, then i have to withdraw apps from other colleges?

@gkdld3131‌ No you don’t but chances are if you decide to go to another college they won’t refund your deposit. So it it is highly encouraged that you save your money till when you know exactly where you wanna go because if you are accepted, you are guaranteed admission by May 1st.

The $150.00 fee is non-refundable. You do not have to withdraw from any other college where you have an offer. You have until May 1st to accept. There is a new process that housing is implementing this year in that if you complete a housing contract by May 15th, you will be assigned a time-slot where you will then be able to login online and select any room that is available. The question that I see unanswered, and you should call to clarify, is how is my time-slot assigned? Will I get an earlier timeslot the earlier I accept and complete a housing application online. You, of course, have the best selection of available halls/rooms available the earlier your time-slot is. If the time-slot assignment is random, then there’s no need to accept early if you’re trying to keep your options open for financial aid letters etc. If an earlier time-slot can be obtained by accepting earlier and completing the housing contract online, therein lies the catch-22.

Our school’s college counseling office said if you accept admissions somewhere, you should notify other schools that you are not attending so they can offer your spot (or money) to someone else.

@Balthezar If you don’t know if you want private or public dorms, in the acceptance part of myillini should you click university dorms to get a place but if you ultimately put an app down in a private dorm just switch it? We are not sure yet, but it would be nice to have a slot in line. Or do we have to leave it unchecked until we decide what to do?
