kk, Wow, I can't believe that your stats didn't get you into their math program. What program did you get into? I would bet that if they put you into a form of general studies program, you would be able to major in math. You should ask what your chances would be.

Seems like some of these stats are really all over the place for acceptance so the values must differ from school to school. How strange.

I got into VPA, Setnor Music School. But I want to know which school in Syracuse was the easiest to get into and which is the hardest to get into?

It's really not hard at all to change majors. It's more important to just get into the school rather than take the major. You can apply after you take some core classes to your math major KK.

BTW - $750 bucks to enroll? Every other college has been $200-250. I guess i'm waiting for all my aid packages to arrive.

Papersignals, VPA is one of the harder schools to get accepted to because they require a portfolio or audition. In fact, I think that they told me that less than 25% of the applicants get accepted to VPA,but I could be mistaken.

The School of Communication is probably the toughest overall in terms of SATs and GPAs.

Dual Major (Whitman Management undecided/ Newhouse Communications broadcast journalism)

ACT 30

weighted 4.86/ unweighted 3.67

43/610

Spring, TX (near Houston)

Amigos de las Americas, Varsity Tennis

I'm an asian girl, I dunno if that really plays into anything.

I would LOVE to, but its so expensive. Any tips on financial aid and scholarships?

My son has not heard from them yet. He is probably not the only one reading this board, and thinking perhaps he was rejected. He called admissions and was told that only half of the decisions have gone out, and they will continue to go out until April 1. Also, he was told that thousands of applications have not been reviewed yet. Thousands with 2 weeks until April 1? Sounds strange. My son had submitted his app early.

taxguy.. they put me into their "human services and health professions" college...... that is nothing even remotely close to what I would be interested in. I just don't really understand what was so wrong with my application that they just shoved me into their least popular choice instead of just rejecting me.

kk,Maybe there was a mistake.Call up admissions and ask them why they did what they did.

taxguy and kk,
It sounds to me like they are overwhelmed. They have only sent out half of the decisions. They told my son that thousands of apps have yet to be reviewed at this late date!

1 Major: Political Science (rejected from 1st choice - dual major of newspaper journalism in Newhouse w/ poly sci in Arts & Sciences)
2. SAT: 1330 out of 1600, 1920 out of 2400
3. 88.8 UW GPA (school doesn't weight)
4. School doesn't rank
5. From: Forest Hills, NY Attends top NYC high school
6. I debated at city hall through an internship program where 50 kids acted as NYC district reps. I also won an internship with the NY Mets this summer. I'm totally psyched.
7. I love politics. It really fascinates me, but can occasionally sicken me too. I'm a sports fanatic. Loyal Mets fan. Also love all sorts of music and am going to learn guitar because I've madeup songs but don't know how to write the music aside from simplistically(used to play piano years ago). Also into Asian culture. Some of my friends are teaching me Chinese!
8. Waiting on my first choice, UMich. If i'm rejected, i'll probably take the more affordable route and go to SUNY Binghamton

ok.. computer science was my second choice and I have higher stats.. political science was my third and i have about equal stats. it's not fair

i got thrown into the health professions school too, and i didnt put anything down about it. i had newhouse first then arts and sciences second. i interpreted it as the admissions people saying, "well, we dont want you here or here, but youre not a total loser, so we'll throw you in here."

I haven't heard yet :(

I e-mailed admissions.. their reply was basically that my first year will consist of mostly classes in CAS anyway and I can transfer after my first year. So basically I'm accepted and if I really want to go, I can. I guess it is okay but I wish I had just gotten into any of my top 3 choices.

yea i also emailed admissions. they said if i wanna double major in graphic design at newhouse i have to keep a 3.5 freshman year and have 20 creds. ouch. that seems like kinda alot for me. especially bcuz im doing comp sci. which makes getting that 3.5 harder.

1 Accepted to Newhouse
2. SAT Is: 2140; SAT IIs: 800 USH, 730 Chem, 700 MathIIC; ACTs: 31
