I want to, what do you think of my chances with a 3.4 unweighted with 10 AP's and a 25 on the ACT's. I'm hoping my course load will help me out.

Slugger, yeah 10 AP's is quite a number to throw around, GPA seems a bit low, but thats unweighted and I am sure your AP courses with their weights boost it quite a bit, I am not very familiar with the ACT, so I can't comment on that, however I did actually bring up your post with my guidance counsellor today and he said that the 10 AP's is going to be a massive plus for you.

Thanks Viva La Dana, I submitted my application no more than two and a half weeks ago, I got a very quick turnaround, which is awesome. Hopefully you will get something soon!

I hope i get something soon too! PSU is my second/third choice too, but the others I wont hear until like...March =(

Well i know you'll get into VT =) It's a pretty school. Dunno if a guy would appreciate that as much as a girl haha. I was going to apply there too but my parents said VA is farish.

Haha I hear ya! I have been down to VT to visit about 6 times in the past 4 months, I can't get enough of the place, but of course I won't hear from them until about march.

VT is pretty far from New Jersey too, it's the farthest my parents would let me apply, which works out because it's my favorite school!

You probably have, but just in case, you can check whats going on with your application at admissions.psu.edu they said they had reached a decision about four days before I got my actual letter, but refused to tell me the decision online, which wasn't very cool hah.

Slugger, I have somewhat similar grades, 10 AP's will definitely help you a lot, even though your GPA is somewhat on the lower end, also your ACT is around the range PSU wants. Because GPA and courseload is 2/3 of admission and 1/3 test scores, extra curriculars and recommendation (if you have), if you have good EC's you should get into Fall semester, if not summer definitely.

Similar grades to you, you have higher gpa but I have higher test scores. From what I've heard, I feel like you should have a very good chance of admission. Your decision notification is primarily based on what major you selected, someone e-mailed them and said they haven't even started looking at business, nursing or architecture. They probably started with undecided (Exploratory), and they only started to look at applications mid-November. I would expect a decision in about a month or so.

thanks for your reply...i'm actually applying to the "school of agricultural sciences" for pre-veterinary studies. do you think that i'll still have a good chance of admission with my grades posted above?

Hah yeah, its my number one school so I've done my research. From what I've heard from my counselor and other people, they believe it is easiest to get into Penn State without a major or applying exploratory. The harder programs to get into are the pre-med, architecture, engineering and business schools. They haven't even started reviewing business and architecture applications yet.

Its probably too late to change anything because everything had to be in by tomorrow if you want the best chances. School of agricultural sciences should be one of the easier programs to get into. Best of luck.

They said they just started to review applications in the beginning of November, some decisions went out already. Anyway, if you get your application in before November 30th, you will get an application before January 15th. If you applied around a week or so ago, you will probably get a decision in 3-4 weeks. The only apps they haven't looked are business, architecture, nursing and engineering.

They started to look at undecided applications, they haven't finished yet, however, they didn't even begin to start with those majors. Most people don't get decisions until January.
