Accepted at UCLA but not UCSD?

So…I don’t get this. How did I get accepted to UCLA and not UCSD? My major is bio and pre-med is my pre-professional program. UCLA is better than UCSD so can someone explain it to me? I have a 4.0 GPA, great ECs/leadership activites, and good SAT Score.

Why are you surprised? Each school uses holistic admissions and your profile simply didn’t resonate with the people reading your application. Happens all the time. And it is true that UCLA is better than UCSD. The two are essentially equivalent.

I got waitlisted from both lol. Crossing my fingers that one of them accepts me from the waitlist lol

I was rejected from Davis but got into UCLA – in an Arts (PoliSci) degree no less.

Each school has their own process, and like everything else in college admissions it doesn’t make any sense to anyone outside the system.

Exactly… people speak all the time of those that get rejected from everywhere but Berkeley or UCLA. It really depends on the school and who reads your application

Things may have changed in recent years, but UCSD admissions were based on points. You receive scores for certain sections of your application, with the total score determining if you get in. But like the others have posted, each school reviews students differently and may be looking for different things.

Mmkay, I think I get it. I was just curious, and I thought the UCs would be similar in most ways when it comes to admissions.
