18 APs? ***

is that even possible?

i had a lot of B's and C's and didn't apply to yale

Jeffrey Brenzel gave an interview with an asian news source where he stated that 3 or 4 Bs was seen as the same as all As or basically a few don't matter.

^ Well unfortunately... things said for publicity and what really goes on is a different story unfortunately...

BIG sigh (So big that it blew a tree 200meters away)!
Jeff really said that?

I think it depends what sort of school you go to though. How are Bs viewed coming from a student in a decent public school vs. highly ranked public school vs. decent private school vs. highly ranked private school?

^ I think the school being highly ranked is overrated. Ranking of the school does not signify its competitiveness... sure maybe the students against each other, but says nothing about course rigor, and curriculum.

I think that is probably true. Yale and top colleges are mostly concerned with how you do in your environment, so it would seem as if class rank would be important as well as absolute grades.

What about schools that don't rank?
I looked at my school's profile to get an idea...and it says things such as because of the rigor of the classes at my school it is extremely rare for kids to take APs outside of senior year and for anyone to take more than 2 or 3 Honors/APs in the same year...will that context suffice for my application when I apply next year?

just wondering what you guys consider an "A." especially all of you who have never gotten a "B." at your school, is the grading scale 90-100= A or 94-100= A?

my school is A- and above is an A.

A- = 4.0
A = 4.0
A+ = 4.0

HA! At my school, you need to get a 95 just to get an A, and a 99 to get an A+.

An A is a 4.0
An A- is a 3. something...

Anyways, my frosh year I had a tough History class and got a mixture of quater grades ranging from a B to an A-, but other than that I have gotten all A's and A+'s in all accelerated/honors/AP/IB classes...plus I'm ranked 2 in my class...

Just don't worry about a few B's. If you have mostly A's in tough classes, good ECs, test scores, and rank, you're fine (and I'm sure you do!) You won't be rejected based on a couple of "slips" in class. If you are rejected (like most are), it's merely b/c they get so many qualified applicants with so few spots. Good luck! :)

^ I wish that were my case. I'd be at...like a 3.85 or 3.9 then. I still have seven B's pulling me down, but five of those are in AP classes (two in AP Bio, two in AP Calc, and one in AP Physics; my chemistry teacher sucked, and half the class failed; I just did poorly second semester of anatomy)
