I applied in September and the wait is driving me crazy! I’m transferring from a university, so I’m a little scared it’ll hurt my chances (they give preference to students from community colleges?). Biology major w/ 4.0 gpa. Hoping to get an answer before March 14th, but feeling doubtful now.

What college did you apply to?

CLAS. they’re going to start looking at apps tomorrow, right?

I just finished my application earlier tonight. I didn’t even know I was eligible to apply, and thought I’d need to finish ochem and physics sequences like every other school I wanted to apply to. But whatever.

Anyway, I was at UF last Friday speaking to advisors at the admissions building and CALS (agriculture and life science). And while the deadline is tomorrow, both advisors I spoke with said they probably won’t send out anything for 30 days after the 1st, since those 30 days are for people like me to send in transcripts.

Santa Fe Transfer to Health Education and Behavior in HHP
3.60 GPA cumulative
3.2 pre-requisite GPA

And FREAKING OUT because I am on the lower end!

Do we find out individually or do all decisions come out for everyone at the same time?

I’m just wondering if we’ll start receiving our letters within the next week or if there’s a certain date we should look forward to.

I’m applying to CLAS for political science for fall 2011. I have a 3.72 GPA and I’m having a bit of a problem with my pre-prof. I got AP credit for one pre-req and sadly got a C in Stats. I’m taking another pre-req now and my Community College does not offer the last pre req so the dean of my college let U.F know not to hold that against me. I’m freaking out and hoping I get accepted.
Also Dannix3 I believe we all get notified individually.

Hopefulgator, we seem to be in a similar boat. I also applied to CLAS for political science. I unfortunately got a C in Stats as well (math is NOT my strong suite), but I got a B in government and am currently taking international relations as well as comparative politics. My school didn’t offer the last one either (comparative politics) so I am taking that one online as a transient student at another institution. My overall GPA is good, but I’m just concerned with my pre-professional. I hope they will acknowledge the fact that I will certainly have a better GPA after these courses are finished, I’d hate to think they would only focus on just the two I’ve completed when they specifically say you only need half done at the time you apply (political science should have more than four pre-requisites!). Good luck to you! I hope we both get accepted :)

Yes, we all find out individually, hence why some people have already found out and some people haven’t.

If you are still completing pre-reqs for your major, or are retaking for a class, yes, your program knows that and does take that into consideration. That’s why they have conditional acceptances (you usually have to get a B or better in your pre-reqs you are currently taking at the time of acceptance).

That’s what I’m counting on, but part of my mind keeps insisting on being pessimistic, thinking they might just flat out reject me. I’m trying to stay positive but I also don’t want to get my hopes up.

Thanks Gatorgirl I hope we all get in. What sucks is that now I found out my community college is now going to offer International relations (the only pre req I’m missing) during the summer B term. However I will already have my A.A by then. I’m going to see an adviser soon to see if they will let me take one more class. What sucks is I already went though the hassle of getting the dean to tell them it was not offered in the time I was a student. I’m also taking state and local gov even though I know it is not going to count for tracking. However I read you can use one other 1000/2000 level course for the major so hopefully that will count to my pre-prof. I’m also stressed cause my application has been siting in the admissions office for nearly two months, and a friend who sent hers a few days before me has already been accepted. I’m just stressed beyond belief.

I know what you mean, it really is a stressful process. It’s funny how a few months ago I wasn’t worried at all, thinking transferring would be a breeze… but then I found out how picky UF is even for transfer admissions. What major did your friend apply to? It seems that other colleges like business are finding out sooner, versus us liberal arts majors who are suffering through the wait. I applied at the end of December, so I hope maybe I’ll find out sooner than somebody who just applied.

Although this is a Fall thread…what are my chances for Summer A, CLAS, econ:
AA from 4-yr FL Univ. 3.8 gpa 4.0 Preprof gpa pretty good essays

I’m sort of in the same boat as some of you too. I’m applying for Fall term CALS-Animal Biology. I applied back in September though but there was a problem with UF receiving my transcripts from my CC so after they didn’t receive it for the 6th time I drove up there and hand delivered them about a month ago. I’m mostly nervous because I have two more pre req classes to go that I have to take over summer to be ready in time for Fall. I’m just worried that they will look at that and think it’s too much of a liability. I’m hoping at least for a conditional acceptance. I have a 3.55…got a C in my MAC1147 last semester I had a 3.8 before that though. The whole process of applying and waiting is super stressful. Wish it’d be over already and we could all just get ACCEPTED! :)

Gatorgirl my firend is a Sociology major so she applied to CLAS just like us. she found out on the 25th of Feburary. Zap don’t worry about Summer classes my friend is taking several pre reqs in the Summer that is why they gave her some condtions to hold acceptance.

zappier: I’m on the same boat I need two prereqs! I’m hoping for a conditional acceptance as well. Are you pre-vet?

Don’t worry about still needing two pre-reqs! As long as they will be completed by the start of Summer B, and they know that you will complete it by then, it should be completely fine. Almost everyone applying to your major is in the same boat as you, it is rare that everyone is completely done with their pre-reqs for it. I know kind of a lot of about the process because I am reapplying, I had gotten in once before but couldn’t go due to withdrawing from a pre-req needed for my major (in my conditional acceptance, it said I must complete the class with a B or better, but I was not doing well and I knew I’d rather wait a semester to go to UF then stay in the class and try to pass but still end up receiving a C or a D). They will not hold it against you, as long as you aren’t taking something like 4 or 5 pre-req courses! And I know a lot of people I go to school with who have applied very early and have not heard yet, and some people who applied like 2 weeks ago and already heard their decision. It’s kind of random, unless if your program tells everyone at the same time (like I think mine does). But yes, it is stressful and a long wait, and I know that sometimes people applying to CLAS do not hear back until late April or early May. Hopefully that doesn’t happen this year.

Your chances for summer are pretty good, collman2, that’s a high GPA, but I’d just be worried about finding somewhere to live in time for summer A if you don’t hear back soon.

Thanks ufhopeful24…I hope we all hear soon!

Do the chances for transfers from florida universities really go down that drastically?

Because I’m wondering if that’ll really affect my application. Especially since I’m applying for political science in CLAS. I have a 3.78 gpa and 4.0 pre-professional but it would just really suck if coming from FIU is that much of a setback.

Oh and P.S. does anyone know the max amount of credits you can transfer? I tried looking for it on the site and I couldn’t find it anywhere!
