Dannix3, I think you can’t have over 90 credits…but I’m not going to state my life on it. I have heard that priority is given to community college transfers, but you seem to be on the high end of GPA’s so I think you’ll be fine. Hopefulgator, gosh that makes me so anxious! She applied for fall as well? Why can’t we know yet!? Haha!

You’re not supposed to apply with more than 90, because more than that UF feels you should just graduate at your university and 60 is the credit transfer cut off.

You can only transfer 60 credits. And I am positive of this since I happened to earn 90 at my CC and I only got to transfer 60 when I transferred last semester, haha.

So, say you take Calculus 3 and accumulate 77 hours, do you have to retake the class?

Lavender: Yeah, I’m pre-vet. Trying to get on the Pre-professional track so that it’s easier to get into Vet school. As for those of you who are worried about transferring from other florida colleges, I’ve heard that as long as you are within the 60-75 range you are ok to transfer. They do give preference to CC transfers but if you have a high end GPA then you really shouldn’t be too worried.

jd - no. They’ll use every class they can towards your degree especially if it’s a pre-req class or a class needed for your major. For me even though I had well over the 60, they used all my classes needed for my degree and satisfied all my gen ed requirements. So basically the “throw away” credits were just random electives that my cc required. This is assuming you’re coming from a CC or florida uni of course…

So I decided to call CALS today to get some sort of time frame as to when decisions for that college might be coming out…she wasn’t too helpful and now I’m a bit more nervous because she said “Oh, they’ll send out notification from now until June 15th. So just keep checking.” So…I’ll be checking my ISIS every day until June 15th if that’s the worst case scenario. UGH! I know some people are hearing back fairly quickly so I’m hoping that’s the same case for the CALS transfers too.

Yeah, it’s going to take awhile. I’d recommend to everyone that you have an idea of where you want to live next year so if and when you find out if you got in, you can sign a lease quickly and not have to worry - just in case if you find out as late as June! Apartments don’t really fill up that fast (which is not what they tell everyone!), but it’s a good idea just in case, because they might be by mid/late June.

Well gatorgirl I got some mixed news about transfering to political science. They told me since my pre-prof is low because of my stats grade (which sucked) and because my AP credit does not count toward my GPA (which is stupid since hardly anyone passes that test) they will hold my application till I finish CPO 2001. They told me if I can get an A then my pre prof GPA will be competitive and I will likely be admitted. Also if I take INR in the summer it will help (but they won’t hold it against me if I don’t since it was not offered when I was a student) Just do good in your last two pre reqs and I think we will both get in for political science. Downside I won’t know till May when my Community College semester ends.

Goodness, that’s a lot to take in. At least they said you will probably be admitted though, even if it takes a little more time to find out it will be worth it in the end. I’m assuming you talked to them over the phone right? I’m working so hard to get the best grades I can in those last two pre-requisite courses. International Relations is going very well for me and I should come out with an A, but comparative politics has been a challenge so far (the teacher isn’t the greatest), but I studied really hard for the last quiz and did well so hopefully it will work out. I cannot wait until this is all over and we’re in (trying to stay positive)!

I called CALS on Wednesday, and the representative said “concurrent high school/AA degree students will be receiving a decision this week.” So, I called Friday, naturally, and the same person then told me the decisions will be coming out in 2 weeks…

The inconsistency of answers is annoying.

Anyone else transferring to the College of Chemical Engineering? I’ve been trying to contact Cynthia Sain for a few weeks with no luck.

Anyone else I should be speaking with regarding my transfer? I’ve called the College of Engineering and each time am rerouted to Cynthia Sain for Chemical Engineering. Just had a few questions regarding the status of my application.

Any help would be great! Very anxious to hear back from UF, as it’s my top school!

Rio,
I’m(basically) in the same boat as you, except I’m not transferring into CheE anymore. I’ve been talking to Mrs. Sain since last September about transferring over, and she is an extremely nice lady, with a lot of helpful advice. Unfortunately, she’s going to be on leave for about two weeks this month. So, just leave a voice-mail, and she’ll be call you back.

It’s the department of chemical engineering btw

Jdtrombone, where are you going now?

Microbiology! hbu?

Is there anyone transferring to the Fisher School of Accounting?

I applied on Jan 3 and I am still waiting to hear back. Has anyone else heard when decisions will start to go out for Fall 2011. I have a 4.0 Overall GPA and 4.0 preprofessional.

Last year transfers started hearing decisions around 2 weeks into march until early april.

soooo here’s hoping we hear from UF around next week?

jdtrombone, MSE.

Hey jd,

Just to make sure I have the number right, since I haven’t been able to contact her in some time now.

352 392 0095 right? I hear her name on the voicemail, but haven’t gotten a call back. I’m sure this is the craziest season for all the departments at the moment, so i’ll just keep trying back from time to time.

But yeah, when I spoke with her a few times back in December & January, she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
