Accepted for Spring semester 2018... Chances for Fall admission?

As the title says, I was finally accepted to MSU. Unfortunately, I was accepted to the Spring semester. I’m treating this like another deferral, and I’m pretty discouraged. I have other schools I can go to, so I’m not screwed or anything, but I was counting on being admitted to MSU for the Fall. I completed my first semester of senior year with a 3.9 GPA, and I’ve sent multiple letters of continued interest to my admissions counselor, stressing that if I am admitted to MSU for the fall, I will wholeheartedly attend. I do want to talk all about my student profile, but I will finally add that I am heavily involved in my school’s community, and I am a leader in my graduating class. I have a passion for learning that I know some others do not have.

I obviously know that MSU cannot accept everyone for the fall. But, coupled with my high grades this year (and, I am still doing great in my current semester, which just started), do I have a chance at being accepted for the Fall? In past years, does anyone know if they accept a lot of people for the Fall after they’ve been accepted to the Spring? I know (personally, in my school, in state public school may I add) many people who were admitted to MSU, but are not attending. I know that’s just a sample and doesn’t necessarily represent the entire population, but I’d imagine many people around the country who were accepted may not attend either.

Any help is appreciated. I’m just very stressed out.

Thank you.

What was your uw gpa and test scores? Did u apply early before November? Being accepted for spring isn’t bad at all u can rest your fall semester and still graduate within 4 years or take classes at your local community college during that time. I would just attend spring semester unless u got into a better college. This is better than being Waitlisted cuz u know u r still going

I applied with a 23 ACT/1140 new SAT. GPA is a 3.49. I’m not surprised I didn’t get in the fall semester, but what baffles me is that some people I know got into fall semester with a lower GPA than me. I applied October 3rd. Deferred November 30. Accepted February 15. It’s been a long wait lol

If you’re absolutely set on attending MSU you should be extremely happy! Worst comes to worst, you either take a semester off or attend a community college/other university. I know a lot of people who got spring admission and just took classes at a community college because you still get the home comfort and community college is extremely cheap. It’s all about how you look at it but I wish you luck.

Thank you, I appreciate that. It just sucks knowing that while all my friends will be getting to know new peers and getting to live in the dorms in the autumn season, I’ll be at home and having to do all of that during the spring

But again, thank you.
