Accepted/Rejected 2010

FAU is too close to home. She really needs to go away and see what it’s like. We live to closed to FSU. I feel she will not get the “Full” college experience. Another thing is she has a horse and wants to take him. She will be better off going north or west Florida.

I’m applying for summer at UCF…I would like to switch to summer term at UNF too

oolopooli… You need to sign up for the next ACT… like right now. Remember to take a practice test before getting into the real deal. Good luck!

Mizzxvii, i will

thanxxxxxx

just bumped in with an old friend. She said she applied with a 3.7, and has AP classes.

SHE GOT REJECTED!

Dymecaker305, average GPAs are getting better and better with each crop of incoming college students. Additionally, test scores are just as important to most schools. How were her scores?

oolopooli, just restating what Mizzvxii said, try to retake ACT or SAT as soon as possible. If I read correctly that your SAT scores are 340 in math and 350 in reading, then I’m a little worried for you =/ The only realistic option (out of the 11 public colleges in Florida) with those scores is FAMU. You also do have some hope for FAU and FGCU. Most of the more established ones will turn you down without hesitation because your scores are also below the minimum most colleges allow until they force students to take remedial math/reading courses. I’m not trying to scare you and I really do hope the best for you, but it may be good if, just in case, you also start looking at your local community college. Most (if not all) community colleges in Florida also offer a track that will allow you to transfer to a big 4 year university after you get your AA (ex. Miami-Dade to FIU, Santa Fe to UF, Valencia and Seminole to UCF).

oolopooli, the remedial cutoff score is 440/math and 440/reading. Is there even remedial at UCF ? lol. Did you register for the January SAT ? Don’t sign up for the ACT, scores for the SAT will come sooner.

Marlins, I think her ACT was a 23. But she wasn’t even deferred, and this is considered early admissions.

Anyone here got in with LOW STATS.

So it can boost everyone’s hopes. lol

My D has a friend whose stats were similar and she is going to Valencia CC, but living near UCF. She is guaranteed admittance to UCF when she has her AA from Valencia. You can go that route too. UCF has an agreement with Valencia.

marlins97, im not interested in any community college
i already registered for the ACT…

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d rather my daughter get rejected than deferred. At least that way she would know what path to choose. I guess we have to sit and wait. In the meantime, trying to bring grades up, re-testing and applying to other schools.

i got accepted to summer 2010!! i got a 23 on act, so not sure why Dymecaker305’s friend got flat out rejected, it didnt even seem like they rejected people since all i hear about is deffering, did the friend apply for summer or fall?

^

Got accepted with a 22 ACT. Someone else on this board also got accepted with a 22 ACT. Write your essay, people…

Oolopooli, study… a lot.

Country, it’s better to get deffered because you can bring up your scores a little and they might accept you. Getting rejected straight out is just so harsh :frowning: I feel bad for 50% of the applicants!

But seriously, a 3.7 with a 23 ACT getting rejected?! She should call them to see what the problem is!

So everyone gets deferred? Do people get straight out rejected?

One more question, when do you finally hear from the schools that you were deferred from?

I’m visiting the school in a week or two… any specific questions you guys want me to ask or any places I should visit? I hope I like the school’s atmosphere! If not, it’s probably UNF for me :frowning:

UNF accepted my friend with the same ACT as me and GPA that’s a little higher, for fall term! Another girl had one point higher than me on the ACT but a lower GPA and also got admitted for fall. I don’t see what they didn’t give me fall! I feel like I’m destined to go to college over the summer :(

to Mizzxvii:
i got accepted to UNF too but my test score is really not that high, my ACT is only 20, SAT is 1020 (Reading + Math) but i still got admitted for fall term. It’s kind of weird…

Yes, 3.7; 23 ACT. She says she thinks it was because she didn’t have any ECs. I guess Test Scores and ECs really HELP A LOT.

I guess they see high school GPAs are pretty easy…where if SATs are easy for a student, then they see you are mentally equipped…while ECs, you are dedicated.

looks like i got a chance

So if you were rejected, when do the schools notify you that you were rejected or hopefully got in? She just applied to FGCU last week and UWF this week.
