thanks for posting this, fireflyscout. do you know if students stay all three days, or just choose one?

Those dates are Thursday-Saturdays. Typically, accepted students will come in on Thursday afternoon, do to some special dinner and stay Thursday night, visit classes on Friday and tour or whatever, stay Friday night, and leave on Saturday morning or afternoon.

Also, if you're a National Merit Finalist, Carleton will pay for half your plane fare up to $200 if you visit for Accepted Student Days. I think they also had some discount available if you book over the phone with Northwest Airlines--check your acceptance materials for this. Sun Country Airlines will probably be cheapest, but those two are the ones to look at first for fares to and from MSP.

I received my decision by phone, so have not been able to look at the admissions package yet- can anyone else shed more light on the accepted student days?

Like when do we have to tell them if we are coming etc...

If you're a multicultural student, I'm pretty sure that Carleton will pay for half of your plane fare up to $200 as well. My fare was actually well over $600 and 50% of that was refunded.

sorry, just wondering, are any ccers planning on going?

Yep--see ya there!

Me too... is anyone coming with their parents? Mine are not coming.

My son will be driving in with my husband Thursday afternoon (we're only about four hours away), leaving late Friday (because of Saturday morning commitments).

My D is flying in from NY by herself. I'm not very happy about missing this event, but airfare was very expensive. Carleton is giving us $200 toward her flight.

Most students who fly in from out of state don't do it with their parents, I think. If you end up going to Carleton, they can see the school themselves when you move in or during Parents' Weekend.

treeman, I'm flying in from NY on my own too, and my ticket is only $200 round trip. So is Carleton basically paying for the whole thing?

ctownes -- It probably makes a difference where, in NY, your flight originates. My D's ticket is close to $500 roundtrip, and Carleton will pay for half, up to $200. This info should be in your acceptance packet. I also had to get her a room in Northfield for Saturday night. The difference in price between a Saturday return and a Sunday morning return was several hundred dollars. Fortunately, during the academic year we will have several months to buy the tickets, and prices should be much cheaper.

I agree completely about booking early- to anyone who is within flying distance of Carleton: you will save a lot of money if you do. I've been flying from home to school once a month for 7 years...

I'm glad to see so many people are going!
