This juggling of accepted student days is exhausting. I just called Carleton to confirm my son's arrival this Thursday for student days. A flight has been booked, I thought my husband had confirmed with Carleton, and it was a routine confirmation call.

They do not have him on the list. I just came home and found the card to register him in my kitchen.

So, what that means for him is that he can come to Carlton and go to classes, eat, etc., but he cannot bunk in a dorm which is a real bummer because he is trying to see if Carleton is a good social fit or not. For some reason, it also means that he cannot attend the first night dinner. :(

Carleton said "do you know anybody who goes here?" I don't. But I am wondering if anybody has a really nice son who wouldn't mind bunking down with a really nice kid from western mass for the accepted student days?

Why the hell did I forget to mail the stupid card?? I should have had my son handle it.

I have a daughter, not son, at Carleton. She has tons of male friends (she is a sophomore but some are freshman) that I am sure would love to host your son (they may already have prospies, but you never know).

Knowing what I know about Carleton kids, I can’t imagine that he would not find someone willing to keep him overnight.

I could post your message on the Carleton parents mailing list. Those people are super helpful as well.

Relax and I am sure it will be fine. As long as he gets there, he will be taken care of!

arrgghhh…it sounds like it will work out. Thank goodness for CC! I hope your S enjoys his overnight at Carleton. Actually, he will probably have a better time now than some strange son who doesn’t have a parent on CC!

geo_wally: would you be willing to post my message on the Carleton list you have access too? We have received nice offers from parents contacting their kids but no luck yet. My son posted a request on carleton facebook class of 2014 and I will have him check this a.m.
Thanks to all the nice carleton parents trying to help.
