Just got back from the Accepted Student Reception (held for all accepted students from Anderson, Pickens and Occonee Counties).

Financial aid awards will be coming out the 'end of the first week of April'. All financial aid has been decided, it is just getting it all into the computer now.

Palmetto Fellows scholarships just came out this week (that was the financial aid hold up). Out of 1800 early Palmetto Fellows scholarships awarded, 1200 students have put down Clemson as their school of choice. Remember, there are only 2800ish freshmen slots available. They said to make sure you get your 100 fee in to hold your spot asap. Right now they have over 14,000 applications. They said the average GPR coming in is over 4.0. Boy, it is tough to get in.

Get those housing requests in. If you have a friend you are wanting to room with, you must both request each other and it is based on the latest application date of the two of you. On the move in day (August 18) there will be orange tshirt people on the move in crew. These are volunteers and there is no charge.

They handed out pencils, and tshirts and fed us these cool Clemson M&M's. My son is so excited.

They were really impressed with new freshmen coming in.

Go Tigers.

I forgot to mention, that there are two scholarships that aren't really scholarships. They are listed under scholarships in the financial aid folder that was mailed to all accepted students. The first one is that is really a grant in aid. You have to go to the website listed and apply for it.

Also, there is a work study aid that you have to apply for online too. Don't forget to do that if you are interested.

man....average GPR over 4.0...

Im gonna be applying there next year and I am so worried I wont get in lol
having a 3.5 worries me now...and im IN STATE!!

and...

so there are 2800 slots left? or thats how many were started out with? Did they say what percent of in-state students were accepted?

Total of 2800 slots for Freshman class, TOTAL. This is the usual amount. There are 2000 more applicants this year than last year. Remember that GPR is weighted. They mentioned the percent of in-state, but I don't recall it. Call it old age.

BTW, if you are in-state, send Clemson your SAT scores early (end of Jr. year). Clemson sends 200 students pre-acceptance on SAT scores alone.

sweet, i take the ACT/SAT in June...is that too late? or no

My son got his pre acceptance notice in May last year.

oh ok...just curious
what did he get on the SAT? Im pretty sure they have to be high to get pre-acceptance in your junior year.

yeah...itd probably be too late for me, theyd get the results in july most likely.
