Okay, so I admit it, I'm excited to share some news and I really want to hear other's news too. So here is where you can post yours or your S/D's acceptances. To add to this, copy & paste, add your info, then post. I'll go first, in alpha-order:

ACCEPTED:
Colorado State U - believersmom's D
Montana State U - believersmom's D
Northern Michigan U - believersmom's D
U of No. Colorado - believersmom's D

Yes, that is what I meant: her major. I figured it must be something to do with the arts, as that's what this thread is about. But as there are kids and parents involved in various areas of the arts (visual art, like your daughter, as well as theater/drama, music (vocal and instrumental) and more on this discussion list, I wanted to ask. Best of luck to your D and congrats!

Thank you!
She has been very involved in MT however has decided for a variety of reasons to not pursue it as a major. One of the questions she always asks during her college visits is "Can a non-theatre major audition for shows?" So several of her schools have a decent theatre department.
You have a D auditioning now right? Best of success to her!

Congratulations to your daughter, believersmom! And thanks for starting this thread for "arty acceptances". I'm looking forward to reading lots of good news here.

Non-majors being able to try out for plays and shows is important to my daughter too, which is another nice thing about SCAD for her.

congrats, slang! so you;re doing the happy dance, right? good news.

So here's how you copy and paste that news, and your list will grow

ACCEPTED:
Art Centers (graphic design program) - slang
Colorado State U - believersmom's D
Montana State U - believersmom's D
Northern Michigan U - believersmom's D
U of No. Colorado - believersmom's D

(Slang, if I didn't write you in correctly, just sweep all that and redo it the way you want to express it). I put it first only b/c it began with "A"

yeah, it was my first choice school. I got my portfolio out by September 14th... I only applied to Art Center, it seems like such a perfect place for me.

Congrats believersmom with the acceptances!

Kudus to you too slang for getting into ACCD. That's a tough school, should be loads of fun. There's this teacher (I think you may have heard of him), I forgot his name but he's notoriously hard on students. There's a youtube video floating around with him screaming at one of the frosh students. It's hilarious, would have loved a chance to study under him. lol.

As for me, technically my "acceptance" was for Class of 2011 but I deferred a year so I'll be entering with the class of 2012. Does that count?

ACCEPTED:
Art Centers (graphic design program) - slang
Colorado State U - believersmom's D
Montana State U - believersmom's D
Northern Michigan U - believersmom's D
RISD - silverpetal
U of No. Colorado - believersmom's D

Moma,
D's accepted so far to:
MICA (with Precollege Scholarship before she even applied)
Kansas City Art Institute
Ringling
Memphis (they were the Charlotte NPD sponsor so she was polite...)
SCAD
Moore (but D. not interested in all girls school)

And yes, for those who ask, you can get accepted to a college at a NPD (with a written admissions acceptance letter) if the portfolio is strong enough and the student is a senior. (But you have to pay it all...)

Waiting on:
RISD
Parsons
Rochester Institute of Technology

And of course she is going to try for Cooper Union...

Have not heard on scholarships or merit yet except for the "pre-application offer" from MICA. Whether she goes to any depends on these offers...

S.Dad

PS The Charlotte NPD was much easier than Atlanta, but the schools are much less strong. If you want to see SAIC reps, MICA, SVA or Ringling, and get 20 to 30 minutes of their time, it was a good location. The lines were short. The same reps we saw at Atlanta (the prior year) went to Charlotte.
